I am going to be doing some rall-x style stuff this weekend and i was wondering if i would be better off throwing on my Hakka RSis when i get there. I am pretty sure that I will get way more tractio nwith them, however i am slightly concerned about running a snow/ice tires in 80-90*F weather. The course is only grass/dirt/clay stuff so there wont be any pavement. Do you think i am alright running the snow tires or should i stick to my all seasons?
nope, that's not where he's headed.... martin, I think you'll definitely get more traction with the hakka's on there. but if it's dry, those fields might chew up the tread. it's pretty rough...... but, since it's been raining all day here, you'll probably be fine btw, I may show up for a while on Sunday morning. you guys better be awake, or I'm just going to have to wake you :yumyum:
Yeah I am not going to the chilton WI obne. Awesome I am glad you can make it out there Chux. It sounds like they got a decent amount of rain so I am going to grab the ahkkas and see when i get up there. If it is pretty wet/muddy i will put them on it its dry there are staying off. I hope they have a jack there to make it easier to change tires... I will most definately have to post up soem pics when i get back.
an hour?!!! I had to drive 6 hours and am currently sitting in dairy queen in but F@@@ egypt... not cool....
Do you just not use your Hakkas in the winter anymore or don't you mind buying new ones sooner rather than later? You can usually buy used sets of gravel tires from rally folks for $100 a set. They still work wonders for rally-x work. However they are usually 15s but just find a cheap set of steelies (as long as they fit over your brakes, which only seems an issue with 4-pots and aftermarket stuff).
Well the rally-xing was fairly short lived as the course we whipped up was VERY tight and had tons of uber sharp hairpins. I do use my hakkas in winter, the main reason I was asking was to see if it is safe to use them (w/o ripping them to shreds) on grass/mud on a hot day. The ground was fairly dry and lumpy so I ended up using my all seasons, which worked perfectly ven though they have 60k+ miles.
