oh man, nice! I will have to post up some pics. I got back last night from Colorado. Rode Copper Mtn., Vail, Winter Park, and Breckenridge. Dope!
There really dark so sorry, but we took some in madison a week ago but my buddy hasnt sent them to me yet.
Anyone else can't wait for mtn lab 1.5 ???? Here is another teazer with some sweet suby plants! http://youtube.com/watch?v=gIOdonDxMBQ video http://www.nzsnowboard.com/articles...pisode_13_-_chop_washed_up_cup_-_snow_park_nz
didnt notice that last year, but i went there once while i went to school at stout... pretty decent little ski hill.
damn that box looks fuuuunnnn, awesome pics. I F-ed my shoulder on Saturday trying a rail for the first time, it wasn't pretty.
More. Canyon Creek (backcountry MT), circa 2002 or so. Me enjoying face shots: Bird's eye view of the above avy chute (and w_o_t_boy's feet):
Oh hell yeah. This will be my 18th season of riding. I was jibbing handrails back when some of you jackass kids were still in diapers. I gotta find those pics and scan 'em.
That would be White Grizzly 2004. I must find the funds to return there some day. Unfortunately its like twice as expensive now that canucks wipe their butts with our currency.
93-94 were some of my favorite years. I had a Burton Ouigi board that season and violated many handrails around town (thanks to the "No Evil" video series for giving me the idea, hehehe).
OMG TOM!!! I started 1987 on a golf course up in Duluth, your high flying pics bring back the memories. When I started Spirit Mountain DID NOT allow us on the hill. So we'd go build huge kickers on a steep hill on the golf course. I could land 30 foot airs before I could carve:laugh: here's just few pics, most are stored on another computer here's a cheezy vid of me coming down alberta peak at wolf creek, co a few years ago. I was sooo out of it that day.....I won't say anything further:kekekaugh: Sucks...I've always been known amongst friends as the guy that could go the biggest with the cleanest tricks, but now I'm old and have a bum knee. :emo: biggest trick - 30+ foot rock drop (cliff) Vail Pass backcountry via snowmobile biggest bail - same drop..the first try i landed too far back compressed my back. Ouch! first pic- hiking to the top in Jackson Hole backcountry 2nd- alberta peak summit wolf creek colorado 3rd- jackson hole somewhere 4th- teton pass, wy (hiking up)
I still have that VHS tape somwhere. how about damion sanders?????? OMG...first exteme snowboarder in the late 80's- early 90's. hard boots, and 40+ backflips off cliffs!! Now that guy could rock.
Big Mountain rules. I think I know exactly where that pic was taken --- Evan's Heaven? There's some quick in-bounds hikes right around there that are pretty sweet.
Well of course it was VHS, lol. I'm still pissed that my friend lost my Critical Condition tape. Sanders was the man in that video.
Yup, it was '89 when I started. I don't think I even went to a ski area for the first couple of years of riding. I still remember when ****ing ****hole Aspen wouldn't allow snowboarding. Now they host the ****ing X-Games every year. Sweet pics, btw Dave. I really would like to hit up Wolf Creek one of these years. SW Colorado is pretty gnarly.
I started snowboarding in the early 90's on a kmart specila when I was 8 and its progressed from there. I just bought a never used K2 fatbob to fit my size 14 boots and new burton cartel bindings and some sweet burton moto boots. Its nice working at a sporting goods store to get this stuff at cost, heheh.
Mnt Baker Ftw!!!!! boards - pre 1988 - took the trucks off skateboard... went down hill... fast, and uncontrolled . lol Mogul Monster 1988 Burton Free3 1994 burton Evil / good - 1998 ((snapped tail off durring misty attempt... sad day for collector board)) Burton code - 2003
looks like I'm skipping this year, but if not I'm going here. http://www.silvertonmountain.com/gallery/ my buddies that live out there have told me it's the best in the US for steep and deep. If you don't like vertical chutes or giant drops then don't go there:biggrin: Has anyone on here hit Corbet's Coulior at jackson?
you ever been to baker in seattle? same thing... the park isn't really worth going too... but the revein (sp) made natuarally by cave in multi years back made a run called natural half pipe.. with walls over 25 - 50 feet high...
Aspen itself was one of the last ones with a no snowboarding rule. It wasn't very long ago. They could get away with it because there's four ski areas in the valley all right next to each other. The X-Games are at Buttermilk which has allowed snowboarding forever.
No I haven't...never been to washington state.... I personally prefer the long vertical chutes or bowls. I'm not talking steep, I'm talking vertical. Sweaty butt check clamping, knee trembling, stomach spinning vertical. :yumyum: you know the kind...you fall and you'll make it to the bottom even quicker then if you snowboard down it. look-up cody bowl at jackson. It was the first time I've ever seriously thought about backing out. One of my bussies actually did....long hike for nothing. The cornice was maybe 20 feet, but the landing was another couple hundred feet of near vertical. the only thing that saved my ass was submarining on the landing..slowing me down to a reasonable speed. gawd i wanna go out west NOW
Mr. Walloftvs and I went there a couple years ago. Lots of wide open lines there, lots of avy danger. They supposedly use more explosives every year than any other ski area. Most backcountry places stick to the trees a lot more. Its pretty satisfying to make like two carves on a wide open snowfield and waste 1000 vertical feet.
talk to the ***************** at ALTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! last time I checked they still wouldn't let a snowboard on the mountain. pricks...they have the best snow too
