So I paid my 02' WRX off this month...

Been waiting a long time for that to happen, so I can finally afford to start some mods...

Then...
My passenger window switch quits working.
My passenger mirror falls off on the freeway.
Some A-hole dings my door hard enough to make a small dent.

Oh the joys of car ownership...:biggrin:

Oh, forgot one...was loading up my recycling today, and found my trunk release lever no longer works WTF!?

 

Didn't by chance just trip the lever inside the trunk that disables it, did ya? Really screwed myself up on that for a few hours... :laugh:

 

I didn't know about that, so probably...

Yaknow, I was sort of thinking the same thing...

The original plan was to pay the thing off, than take the money that would have been 1yrs more car payments ($4800) into upgrading the car...

Stuff like stage 2 exhaust/ tune, swaybars, paint the sideskirts (just kidding) springs/struts (need struts anyway).

Then got to thinking about the things going wrong, the imperfections in the paint, as expected from a daily driven car...the fact that knowing my luck, as soon as I max my plastic for stage 2 my tranny will probably break, and I can't see putting 4k out for ppg's, but at the same time, couldn't see going halfway, and risking having the tranny break again.

So I started thinking about trying to find an 07 sti, as I HATE the 08 style, and don't like the 07's much either, but they don't look too bad. On the good side, you have the extra .5 liters, with the variable valve system to boot, a better ecu, better brakes, pretty much better everything, even the headlights (the ones on my 02 definatly leave to be desired).

I'm not really looking forward to carpayments again already, but I'm thinking it over, not really sure what I'd get for a trade in value for an 02' with chronic CEL's for cat ineffeciency...I might call my insurance guy and see what the difference in premiums would be between my 02' and an 07 sti...I wouldn't be surprized if it was double...

 

ouch man, i know exactly how you feel right when you think you can MAYBE start saving another problem or accident comes up.
