So, I saw a McLaren yesterday.

In downtown Hudson. A new MP4-12c. Effin' sweet.

    Obligatory crappy cell phone pic:

I wonder how much a replacement mirror costs. Such a sweet car. Hopefully the owner is an enthusiast and has it out at events. Love to see/hear it.

No kidding. Starting a $230k, I'd imagine quite a bit.

I was driving down the main street and saw it. I had to pull around the block and park to take a pic. My wife rolled her eyes. I told her that it was a moral imperative for me to stop and gawk at the car.

I wish it were driving too. I'd love to hear it.

I would have done the same thing... and received the same response!

Before anyone mentions the parking job, I'd guess the owner isn't a first time supercar owner judging by the distance they gave their passenger to safely open the door (assuming they had a passenger).

Hmm. Not sure about that. It's not like dihedral doors need curb clearance...

Exotics like this always look huge in photos because of the low and wide proportions. In person, it was quite small. It didn't stick out on the other side at all. It was well inside the space.

Yes. Black on black on black. The awesomeness was palatable.

Just for fun, the other two pics I took. Looks wicked from the back.

Ever see the warning sticker for the doors on the koenigseggggegegegegegegg?

I'm guessing these go more up and out than out and up, but still, not a risk most are willing to take. Plus there's the common courtesy factor for the passenger. Its hard enough getting in and out of cars like this. Makes it even worse when you're hugged up on a curb.

I'd be terrified opening the dihedral-sychro-helix doors on an 'egg anywhere near a curb. Or near anything for that matter.

These are classic butterfly doors. forward and up and out. But, yeah, much better safe than sorry.

Ben, I understand how the doors work on this car, but even in that pic you don't get a great sense of how far out the lowest point on the door swings away from the car. I'm guessing you need a good foot of clearance against a normal sized curb.

edit: kinda get an idea from this vid...

The point is not that the doors need clearance, but that the doors possess much awesomeness.

I was surprised to see one in person. I wonder how many have been sold (and delivered) at this point...?

Who cares about the doors? If I had this car I would just find better parking spots where you wouldn't have to worry about it.

With those doors you'd almost have to be the guy appearing in "sh1tty parking" threads all over the internet.
