And I have found an interesting idea for a project... here's the snag, do I build a "street car", rally car to steal Hot Carl's thunder, or go my traditional route and build an all out track car? Obviously, its me, so I am leaning towards the last option, and since it would be from the ground up, it wouldn't need to be re-stripped again  I would probably approach it as a challenge, how fast of a car can I build for the least possible amount of money. What do you all think, interesting approach and idea, or money pit and waste of time.
Do it! Then you can take the top wing off and paint the whole car camo too. Srsly, get Yia's car, ton's of potential.
rally car is the funnest imo but the only downsides are you'd have an n/a car for at least a year and you always have to look at it as a completely expendable investment. A track car would be somewhat similar in that respect but the odds of totaling it everytime you race it probably aren't as high. You could build a decent-ish GC Open Light class car for probably $10,000. closer to 20k to build a very good car. It would be nice to have more rally cars around locally because rally participation isn't super strong so it's often hard to get the requisite number of cars registered and payed to run a race. The track car is probably better as far as affordable seat time with all the various open lapping days around the midwest. BIR is an official SCCA certified track for next year so there will be a lot more chances for road racing (not really sure on the specifics - Utecht would know). With a rally car you don't get that many opportunities to really flog it without a lot of traveling and a lot of money
as of NOW, I still have the Saab, I still have every intent to do the Datsun, I'll probably help with the Mach 1 over break, why not pick up a Subaru and pick up where I left off?
The only "for sure" in this thread is the fact that curly wears clown pants. You may indeed pick up another subaru, but it will never be turned into anything more than either of your past subarus (bolt on mobiles). Sorry to be "that guy"
What's wrong with just a daily driver subaru? Just focus building up the Datsun for a summer cruiser.
