when you become homeless, you gotta be creative. Everyone knows the saying "god bless, will not buy booz etc" but this is the ****znits
Yeah, the evening news is a reliable source. They couldn't possibly devise a story like that to, oh I don't know, attract viewers? *rolleyes* I'm not saying I give money to panhandlers or that I even have an opinion on whether you should or not...but there are LOTS of reasons homeless people find it very difficult to just go out and get a job. And since you mention it, some of the homeless do actually work (about 1/6 of the homeless population, according to the US Conference of Mayors). Discrimination by employers, mental illness, lack of affordable housing, substandard wages...the list of contributing factors to homelessness goes on. To characterize them as a bunch of scammers is so incredibly ignorant that I almost don't know what to say in response.
instead of the dollar how about a cheeseburger... A wise man once said.. Give a man a fish He will eat fir a day... But teach a Man to fish and he will survive a lifetime... somehting like that.. it is about retraining the mentality of some of these people and giving them a Hope for their future and self confidence..
