well, i got out of a nice 8 hour day of work to find a nice note on my car. A lady backed into it and demolished my passenger side fender, along with the hood, and some of the bumper.

I'm extremely pissed to say the least.

    Will update with pics later.

i'm guessing her insurance will pay for it. Note said "Sorry, I hit your car. 763-862-XXXX". Its definitely female handwriting. Very curvy and legible, unlike most males' handwriting.

I'm going to get it all straightened out tomorrow. I had a long day at work and really didn't feel like messing with it at 9pm tonight. I called a squad to file a police report. He gave me **** for having no front plate and not having an insurance card that was up to date. I literally called Friday to put insurance on it, so its only been insured for 4 days and haven't gotten the new card in the mail yet.

Its good that she was an honest enough person to leave a note. Yes it sucks having yur car in the body shop and not being able to drive it but at least you won't be getting stiffed on the bill.

I am more than happy there was a note. My WRX was hit and run the 4th day I owned it, cost me $250 for the deductible. Hopefully I'll get it squared away this weekend and have it back out in a week. I was going to drop It off at DB to put a clutch in too, that'll have to wait now : l.

That happened to me 3 times when I lived in Virginia. I'm glad to be out of that idiot state. My car had significantly more miles on it though.

at least she left you a note. The person who smashed my tail light and rear fender did not leave me anything .. except a smashed tail light and dents in the fender :(

Sorry to hear about the car. Raymond Autobody is a good place for repairs. Right now, I'm trying out Abra in St. Louis Park for some PDR work and bumper repair. Seems pretty good as they're pretty slow right now in terms of work so they started on my car right away :)

pdr wouldn't cut it. the fender is crushed. I got it looked at by my body guy and the headlight and fender are being replaced. I wish the bumper was getting scrapped since the dealership drilled ghey holes for a license plate, but no luck. the guy said he will fill them though for free.

Oh, I was getting PDR work as extra because I noticed a couple of door dings so might as well get them fixed while my car is there. My rear bumper has/had (getting the WRX back tomorrow :) ) a large dent in it with a lot of paint scratches/peeling so that's the main reason why it's there. The front bumper needed a lot touch up and buff from another accident and Abra told me they'd do it for no extra cost which seems pretty on par with other auto body places. So, it's $630 for the rear bumper repair/repaint + $150 for the PDR work with no extra cost of touching up and buffing of the areas I requested. We'll see how good they do.

Ouch. Sounds like they charge alot. I got a rear bumper and repaint for way less than $630 by buying a new bumper and having RaymondAutoBody paint it.

I took mine to Raymond and they wanted $800 for the repair. That is they would buy a new bumper and paint it. Didn't think about the option of buying a new bumper myself and then having Raymond paint it. So, it's probably all more expensive since I'm letting the body shop take care of it all.

I got everything taken care of. I called the person who hit me (it was a guy surprisingly). He already filed a claim with his insurance and they were basically waiting for me to call to get instructions on what to do next. They were all very polite. Sounded great at the time.

I then called his insurance and they kept trying to talk me into going to Abra since they're the only shop they "authorize". After listening to 3 sales pitches I refused and said I already have a shop lined up (Gale's Autobody in Blaine). They still want me to bring it to an "authorized dealer" to quote the amount of damage and to cut me a check on the spot. I think its BS i have to drive out of my way to get a quote at a shop that won't even be doing my repair. I'm picturing it now; the check they give me will be like $500 short of the real damage and I end up paying out of pocket. Time will tell...

Oh yeah, the place I have to get quoted at doesn't have an opening until Tuesday, so now I have to wait another 4 days before I can even get quoted.

Oh well, it could be worse on many levels.

I also get a free Rental car voucher  . Should I take them up on this offer of free beater for the week? I have the GTPeed, but if I get a newer, somewhat nice car, I may take them up on it.

I believe it's state law that you're allowed to take your car to ANY auto body shop of your choosing and insurance has to cough up the dough. That's what I've been told and I also saw it stated at Raymond's Autobody on like the front door lol. I went to Abra since I got 3 quotes for my damage with Raymond being the most expensive, Maaco being the least, and Abra in the middle so I figured why not go with the middle guy? I'm paying out of pocket for my repairs. Anyway, whatever you do, don't get a Chrysler Sebring for a rental. I didn't have a choice since they had a low stock of cars that day, but get something fun and beat the hell outta it :)

I know its the law, that's why I refused their recommendation. I'm going to ask what's available for rent. Its from Enterprise.

Pass on the Impala. And the Fusion. Both really lame, anemic rental cars. Next time I'm asking for something comprable to what I'm getting fixed. OH. Stay away from Superior Collision, my front end is already peeling, and it was just repainted in January after my accident. It's getting fixed for free tho, thank goodness.
