and shot a couple airsoft rounds at me while driving. It was out of the extended cab window of an F150. Not cool I thought to myself and I took note of the plate number. I stopped at the cop shop, since it was nearby, and talked to the nice lady at the desk. She took my info and what not. About 20min later I got a phone call, and it was an officer who had the vehicle pulled over at that moment. He asked what I wanted to do, so I told him I just wanted them to get their ass chewed. Tell them people get shot weilding airsoft guns around since they look exactly like the real thing. I didn't want to press any charges or anything, since a couple buddies and I got in some trouble in high school with paintball guns. We got a couple stern lectures and were sent on our way. All of us were 17, so a slap on the hand was normal procedure. Stupid kids!
sorry to hear that. personally I woud've tolkd the cop i needed to think about it, but probably going to press charges. that way the kids would freak out about it for a few days.
I'd press charges. Someone might not know its an airsoft initially and might perform a snap reaction maneuver that could kill several people. or shoot them each in the wang with it. either or.
we are a carry state.... !!!! stupid thing to do.... regardless... In Australia they would have been chased down dragged out of their truck and giving a beatdown... ha ha but we dont have too many handguns etc over there... they just like drunken brawling... favourite choice of weapon.... NIKES
i would press charges too...so the kids doesn't think it is a slap in the wrist...Kids nowadays are as bad as before...and need a lesson to be learned...a Slap doesn't cut it anymore...
Now that I think about about it, I should have said I'd debate it for a couple days. It was a snap decision I had to make on the spot. Either way, police were involved. When I talked to the officer, he told the guys in the truck said they dropped off the perpetraitor(sp) right before. The cop told me he could get who it was out of them. That gave me faith that he(the cop) could f with them enough to rile'em up a bit. Like I said, I've been in trouble for similar shtuff and didn't want to take it all the way. Kids (like we all were at some point) do stupid ****. My buddies and I hit a house with about 80 paintballs when we were in high school. People hit the floor. We got a talking to and had to look at some grusome pictures of traffic accidents, showing what we could have caused. It was enough.
I think you did the right thing. for most kids, just knowing that someone called the cops on them is enough. they'll think twice next time.
One of the first rules with ANY gun: Never point it at something you're not prepared to destroy. Airsoft guns are a great way to get yourself killed in a situation like that, especially when the other person comes up with a real gun and is afraid for their life. If I were out with my friends or family and someone pulled a gun on us, I'm not waiting to find out whether it's real or not. I'm taking whatever action I can to eliminate the threat, up to and including using my own .45. There are cases where police officers have shot people (and rightfully so) because they pulled an Airsoft gun out.
:laugh: yeah or i would of pressed charges for sure.. kidna like snowballs at cars, not cool..
^^ My paint isn't exactly spectacular, ya know. I agree with Brian completely. The only thing is I felt a need to be the bigger person. I got let off of plenty-o-shenanigans, so I didn't feel the need to put the screws to people.
same thing happened to me put it was a 12 year old on the side of the street blasted me through my halfway down window right in the cheek... called the cops and the kids got busted... they cop told him i was in the hospital cuz the bb hit me in the eye.... the kid called me in tears and said he was sorry.... needless to say he learned his lesson...
the county probably pressed charges on your behalf tho. some community service, a couple classes, and an ok sized fine. im not saying they didnt deserve it though.
when i was a kid i shot (accidentally) a couple of my neighbor's windows with my bb gun... they did press charges. it sucked.
