With the second new transmission in it. Have a question for the Subaru dealership guys about it thou. The first trans came from dealship and was installed. Test drove car and Both axle seals leaked bad. They called about new seals and another trans was shipped out instead. I was told the deal even pitched in money for them to do the work again. I'm glad that was done. My question is: is it that much of a problem to replace the seals that replacing the trans is faster? The SVX drives and shifts nice now with the new Subaru reman trans. I need to get the extra cooler installed now so I dont have that problem ever again.

Man it's nice driving an auto again that crusies down the road nice. I missed her. :)

how hard it that? running a 4eat right now . .. is a switch to manual easy enough or are ya razz'in the dude?

please bear in mind I am a newb, before ya get too ________ with the answer. A 6mt in a '02 WRX might be really cool. . . .

Yeah I would have done the swap but,

I had bought the car with an extended warranty and they paid for most of the trans replacement. I would have loved to have a 5speed in it and if it ever happens again I will do that.

Hey Macx, if you go over to www.subaru-svx.net you can do a search on the 5 or 6 speed swap. There is a guy that makes the cross member and you can get most of the stuff thru him. Then you just need to junkyard shop for the trans and stuff. Takes about 5 minutes of welding, the rest is bolt in.

I have a tranny cooler to install with a fan on it and plan to get it in asap. I dont want to go thru this again. So now all the problems have been fixed (as I knock on wood) New wheel bearings last fall, new powersteering pump last fall, new Subaru rebuilt trans this summer, brakes last fall and new drivers side power window switch yesterday. With any luck I have it all covered for awhile. :)

I recommand these guys for your mechanical work. GREAT customer service and a good price. These folks treat you right and do a really fine job.

They treated me right on the SVX and my XT.

An 02 WRX tranny. I've been wanting to see one that's done too! :) So far so good. Just a little slow going. I do a couple things each day.

    Hmm

I was going to drive the XT down to the BBQ but maybe I should bring the SVX. I had the XT at the last meet there. The stress on which one to drive
    down is killing me..... lol

I haven't seen an XT in a while. I think they're more rare than the SVX's. Either one would be cool to see.

    Well

My guess is there will be some SVX's there and I think I may have the only XT around thats still in one piece. I wish I had it painted but I guess thats not going to happen now. Loosing your job after 16yrs and starting over at lower pay sucks.

Well I may still drive it down then. I know there are a couple XT6's around yet but I dont know if any of them are MNSubaru members.

My XT is not as pretty as the SVX but the gas mileage is better and it's a stick. :) Just needs a paint job
