So I have to vent, what is the deal with people and the left lane? This morning I had an interresting exchange with someone in a black 08-09 WRX. I had some up behind a F150 doing 62 in a 65 on 169 south bound, and as luck would have it he was in the left lane next to a car going 61.5. I passed both of them on the right, I know I shouldn't have but I did anyway. I was followed by the black WRX. The WRX was coming up on me so I pulled to the right and let him pass after I passed another slower car. The WRX continued to pass slowing as he did. I did notice a MNSubaru sticker in his rear side window. The Black WRX slowed and basically stuffed me behind a minivan and then I passed the van and the Black WRX (now he was doing over 65 but under 70). He actually waved as I passed, I don't know if he caught that I flipped him off! as I exited down the road I noticed that he was still in the left lane next to an open right lane.

WHY MUST PEOPLE DRIVE IN THE LEFT LANE?

99% of the people on the road can't drive.

This is especially true between the hours of 9-6.

+1 which is why I work until 6 every night so that I don't have to be on the roads with the increased number of dimwits..

I originally thought the same thing. Now we've had to make "changes" around here, and well, now i'm a driver at times.

I literally got pushed off the road by a rubbernecker in a Coon Rapids silver Impala today as he was staring at a cop that had someone pulled over on 169 S today.

I remember the president of another car club talking abouit how much he would like to have a big car with bumpers all around for just such an occasion. or to nudge people in the right direction

most MN drivers dont understand the left lane common sense thing they just hang out where ever they drift to while on the phone. I think other states have laws that you cant drive and hang out in the left...passing only

I can't stand left lane hogs, nor can I stand people that drive on the section of HWY 12 between Long Lake and Maple Plain that do under the 60MPH speed limit!!!

This morning it was moving at a whopping 20MPH, when the road wasn't hardly snow covered. Get a clue, or get off the roads!

Here is my story. I was driving south 169 and see WRB WRX so I wanted to say Hi as a respect to Subie owner. I came up to him and the guy took off, so I followed him in the left lane and he switched to right so I thought I would say Hi as I pass but he just ignored me. So I slowed down so he could pass me on the right and maybe waive. I never intended to stuff him between cars and I would let him pass me if he wanted to. I missed my turn just because I wanted to say Hi and he was just angry at other divers and I got in the middle of it. I don't drive like an idiot I have been driving for over 10 years without any accidents and it's nice to spot a Subie on the road. The car looked very nice from behind and I just wanted to say Hi that's it.

I am sorry I ruined your morning, but I only wanted to tell you "nice car".

In germany its called "drive right", I cant remember the german phrase....But the left lane is only for passing and fast cars, all other cars and vehicles drive on the right side of the road.

    Guys,

The horn, use it. Seriously. Go anywhere else and people honk their horns. Start using them. I love honking at people. Talking on your god damn cellphone while in the left lane doing 5mph under the limit.. *HONK*

It gets them to move, either faster or out of your way.

I'm surprised I haven't been stopped on my bike for overuse of my horn. I honk at people all the time for doing stupid stuff. More-so when I'm on the bike, to prevent me from becoming a grease spot on the road.

Dude, on your bike I'd hope you have hellas. That's the reason why I won't get a bike, to many morons just coming over to your lane.

I guess I learned my lesson a hard way. No more Subie love from me. Might as well take off my club stickers too.

    P.S. Finally spoted.

No Hella's... Just the factory horn. Been thinking about trying to install the 06-07 Forester horns though... They are really loud for stock!

It used to be that way, but then the WRX came to the States, and all the wee wanker kiddies wanted one, around 2004, the novelty of it had worn off, and toughasses, boy racers and douchebags started picking them up so they could be king of the streets or whatever. At that point, the charm was gone...about 1/4 of the subaru owners waved back, but most of them gave you dirty looks or the finger. It's a different breed now man, the Subie wave is dead.

Last summer, someone in an STi that I've never seen before or again gave me a honk. It surprised me because most of the new breed thinks I'm in a Honda.

I never had that happend to me before. I always get honk or waive or just a smile but never dirty look.

Sorry, I had to be the one causing trouble on the road. Would never happend again.

Isn't it "Drive right, Pass left" A few Audi guys used to have lisence plate brackets that said that.

I feel the same way. I'm starting to think it's the curse of the '08. Nobody seems to notice.:dunno:

you did not ruin my morning, but you might consider the right lane. Also I wouldn't pass someone just to wave, if I did pass I would wave, I definatly would never wave after I sped up, stuffed a guy and slowed down and lurked the left lane. It's the passing lane. I was on my way (late) and I didn't have time to fool around. I don't really mean to attack you as much as the minnesota stupidity of left lane lurking. If you were going faster I would be MORE than happy to let you by. If we pass in the future I will be sure to wave as long as you don't stuff me again!

I am trying to get to work, not "look nice", I am sure I would feel much better if the guy that runs me off the road or screws me in traffic thought my car would look nice. I figured he wanted to look at my car, but I needed to get things done, is that too much to ask?

you're right the other cars did have me pissed! I don't really mean that I hate you or anything. That van was going MUCH slower than I expected and I was concentrating on not hitting him. I din't see you wave wen you passed me. I was late visiting a customer and there were som many people that seemed to just sit in the left lane. I saw you come up behind me, where did you come from anyway? Thanks for the comments on my car, yours is quite nice, probably much nicer than mine. Stop in for a beer sometime, I'm a prick but okay to drink with!

I know 169 sucks. People drive way too slow. I saw your car a mile away and wanted to check it out so I speed up and you know the rest. I don't see too many Subies down south so I was very excited to see aftermarket exhaust and rallyarmor flaps on your car. I knew you must be a member. Maybe we'll get that drink at some subaru event.
