I'm swapping mine today for the first time - what a serious pain in the arse.

    That is all.

Can't wait to do mine. Let me know what was the most difficult thing. I'll be sure to break open a bottle of beer just before.

removing the washer fluid reservoir will make the drivers side much easier and the passenger side is easier with the intake removed depending on what kind of intake you have and how easily it is removed

Removing the intake & battery were more or less mandatory. The bolts which hold the coils onto the plugs were tough, as was getting the plugs out. A 3" extension on the plug socket is needed, and a knuckle to allow removal of the plug on at least 2 of the 4.

Removing the coil from the rear drivers side was kicking my butt until I unplugged the connector from the coil.

All done, and I also replaced the gear oil in the tranny & rear diff. All set for a road trip. :)

No wonder I'm afraid to do mine.

...but it must be done some time.

Maybe I got lucky but I found changing the plugs very easy on my car. I think with an assortment of extensions and universal joints it should be pretty doable.

I kept thinking to myself, "If I can't even change sparkplugs on my Subie I dont deserve it". <--that keeps me going forward.

    (being lazy is excluded)

This... it takes a bit, but isn't too difficult. I just picked up a cheap 3/8th's wobbly head socket wrench thingy

I just did plugs on my wrx for the first time tonight. It was a lot easier than I was expecting, only slightly more work than on a sohc na subaru. I took out the battery, washer tank and intake and everything was accessible, I used a regular 3/8ths ratchet and a short extension.

Changing plugs is not difficult, it just takes a few extra steps.

In my case I had to remove some of my IC plumbing in order to get the battery out. I've got the proper tools - if only my hands were smaller. :)

Plugs are EASY... unless you have an SVX, then enjoy doing that.

lol, same with my old SHO.

The front 3 are easy, but to get at the rear 3 you either have to remove the crazy intake manifold thingy or drop the transmission. :eek4:

yeah with the SVX the easiest way would drop down, lift up, or remove some of the suspension for the rear two

Same here on my Forester. Engine has to be slightly jacked up.

Did plugs on an 05 Legacy GT once.

Had to jack up the engine but it was pretty easy since the engine mount bolts are completely accessable on the cross member.

Process was remove mount nuts, jack up drivers side for change, then passenger side, and replace nuts. Of course I also removed the washer resevoir and battery but that's a normal step in the process for any Subaru I've worked on.
