Right now at 1100 Headed back home for a quick run out I was on 35W Northbound just north of hwy 36 and there are 3 count'em, 3 cop cars at different overpasses between 36 and 694. I was going 62-63 mph the whole way in the right lane and each one had his radar gun pegged on my SVX. They wanted so bad to catch me when they missed all the trucks going much faster than I. I got on 694 and a black Crown Vic followed me until just before my exit and then passed me. It was two old guys with Michigan plates. I was wondering If I was going to get pulled over for going 2 miles over the limit! I heard since they raised the speed limit to 60, they are REALLY cracking down on speeders. I like my insurance premiums where they are thank you.
yeah theyve been just as bad on from hw 5 in chanhassen to 62 in EP..me and my friends were watching there set up.. one guy would clock and he would radio ahead to the other car and he would snag him.. then theyd just swap positions.. we saw them get atleast 4 people.... NEVER SPEED UNDER OVERPASSES they always sit on the other side
Now that they set the speed limit to 60 on hwy 100, I am not taking that route any more since they said they'll get you if you past 60.
That's one of my routes home. I also noticed the increased speed limit. I have always traveled 65 on the 35E (the flow of traffic mind you), and never was pulled over. Thanks for the heads up though.
http://www.speedtrap.org/speedtraps/ste_city.asp?state=MN shows you were most of the cops sit and use their radar guns in your town
This was highly publicized on the news, both print and TV, over a week ago. Speed limits on certain stretches of metro freeway were raised from 55 to 60, but tolerance for speeding was simultaneously cut down drastically. Public officials stressed that there would be increased enforcement of the new limits and that they would be stopping and ticketing for going as little as 2 mph over the limit.
When will our stupid government learn that speed doesn't kill? Officers should spend there time doing some real crime busting elsewhere. Tickets for 2MPH over the new 60MPH limit! good God, seriously.
im not saying i obey the laws but they're for a reason.. the limit is 60 not 62.. so simply dont go faster.. and if u do be prepared to pay for it. i agree that tickets for 2 over are rediculous... but lets be honest the cops arn't out to get those people.. id be suprised if anyone here has gotten a ticket for anything under +5
Yeah, I always look out in that area. They are almost always somewhere between Valley View Road and Prairie Center Drive on hwy 212/5.
they need to make money for donuts... who's gonna make money catching a fugitive? that's what taxes are for...
They would be hard pressed to win that in court since the radar guns can't be calibrated for anything better then +- 2mph which means 2 mph is within the margin of error. Please give me a ticket for 2 mph over, I have nothing better to do than make a cop look like a fool in court.
holy crap. That sucks! (does it work the same way up here as FL, if you go more than 20 over it's a felony, and they can haul you off to jail on the spot???)
