I am not sure if its bad or not. But i can tell you that I have done it probably 5 times with a pressure washer and had no problems. Also use an engine cleaner a little before you pressure wash and it will clean right up.

Do I have to worry about the harnesses wire and the alternator, battery and such?

whenever i clean out the engine bay i normally put a towel over teh battery, and my air filter. other than that spray away. you might want to try an avoid some of the more sensitive areas. ie dont go full blast on spark plug wires, and resevoirs.

You should be fine, I clean engine bays every day. I use a pressure washer and some really highly corrosive degreaser. Never had a problem with battery terminals or alternators going bad from it.

Yeah, I have power washed my engine before too. Just advoid doing silly things. How powerful of a compressor/nozzle are you using. Don't put it point blank to something like the fuses and expect watter will not get in there.

I use a high-powered pressure washer. I keep the nozzle very far away, let the degreaser do the work and use pressure washer to just RINSE it.
