I got tax return money comin so I'm think about dropping my rex. I want a aggressive drop but still using my stock struts. The front wheel gap on the 06+ wrx is just fugly! I'm thinking about either the cobb springs or the tien s tech. Any other opinions? I wanted coilovers but dont have that much cash yet.

are you using stock struts I assume? If so, I'd personally recommend prodrive or eibach prokit. I do a ton of these installs and people seem to prefer the prodrive for nice handling, but when they ride in my car they love the feel the eibachs provide, which seems to feel more glued (solid) to the road.

Peter, have you looked at the SPT springs? Or a set of STI takeoffs? Either of those would work well with the stock struts. If you get the S-techs I'll beat you over the head with your stock strut when it blows in a couple weeks ;) I believe there is a spring rate/drop chart on www.northursalia.com that lists all of the rates and drops, give that a look.

ok brian I wont get the tiens. Simmer down now! Well how well is the spt drop? I would love coilovers with camber plates and dampning control Fuji. But Its my daily driver and there is no need for it unless I seriously start doing some road racing courses or autocross. For that reason I might consider buying back my ae86 for a track car. But we'll see how this year goes with the cash flow.

Check out www.oakos.com. Never had a problem with them, if you have questions just give them a call. I talked to the owner last time I ordered and he seemed like a nice guy, more than helpful. Fast shipping. I believe prodrives are pretty much the same price where ever you look, I know oakos has free shipping on Prodrive and Kartboy products.

I dont know why everyone hates Tein. I have them and love them. I think the car rides, handles, and looks good. Its not to low it actully makes the car look even.

^ should be a 2 inch drop in the front and something like .7 or .8 in the rear.

Due to the increased springs rates with S techs the stock wrx struts take a beating. Usually, but not always the stock struts blow relatively quick.

    RABBIT-
STI pinks (02-03)- I don't think you'll really see a noticible drop, but stiffer spring rates. I think they have a higher rate like the s techs. pinks I thought were around 215 front/190 rear. 04 were higher rates.

IIRC, the STI stockers will give you about a 10mm drop over stock.

the only springs you can get that won't eat your stock struts almost immediately would be Eibach pro kits or H&R sportlines. Everything else would either be too stiff or too low, both of those springs are designed for stock struts.

64,000 total miles on my struts. 13,000 miles of that with the lowering springs. Not one strut leak yet. And the car doesn't bounce at all.

    interesting......

well its just like with the BOV disscusion. Many people say y? It can do damage etc. etc. etc.etc. We have all been there. I still bought a BOV and haven't had any problems listed on every forum. Its good that there is at least 1 positive feed back on the tiens. I just thought hey maybe I'll get these because of the price. But I'm not really worried about ride comfort in the rex. Heck my wifes 2001 corolla rides nicer. I'm in it for looks and performance. To me if its a nice clean drop with no blown struts then more power to ya!
I wouldn't mind seeing pictures of cars with there drop. That would help also. Thanks for all the suggestions.

I'm by no means any expert, but all I can say is that everything I've read on the S-techs is that the car actually handles worse than stock with those. That's not just nasioc either, thats most of the others as well. I don't know, I don't really see any incentive for people to lie about such things (what would be the benefit?). It seems to me that for the ~$200 ±25 that pretty much every spring costs, there's much better options out there.

    Prodrive
    Crucial
    Swift
    Espelir (?)

Those all seem to be more about the business, and I think they're all within $50 of each other.

I don't know, someone correct me if I'm wrong.
