I sense a hub swap coming, hence the different wheels/rims in the first picture.

hubs, wheels, and coilovers are all visible by the pics... should be rather interesting to see the direction your going with this

    I know whats happening.

Chux, in that one pic w/ the leg/foot, it looks like the wheel has very minimal clearance there. with a tire on there will you be able to clear that piece of metal? or will that be being removed in the near future?

glad to see those coils are continuing to be used.

that is the million dollar question. That's part of the trailing arm.....extremely crucial piece, and not going anywhere. I'm thinking as long as I don't use a tire that's too terribly wide, I'll be OK (8" wide rim = 203 mm....so I'm looking at 205mm tires). otherwise, a small wheel spacer may be needed.

yes, a 'hub' swap. it is that simple in the rear (as if that was all I'm doing), but the front is a hole different animal.

    yes, Rota Torques

the shock isn't the interesting thing. it's the application. that's a stock shock, but it's functionality means that I might actually have more suspension options for the rear than the front :eek3:

I'm also about 99% sure I'm the first person.....ever.....on the planet.....to discover this possibility. not like the kid on NASIOC saying he thinks he's the first one to put an EG33 in a legacy. more info as I decide to share it

nobody's guessed it yet. keep in mind, the spring/adjustable sleeve is for an impreza, and the top hat is for my car. but the shock itself is not.

trying to replace the rear diff pinion seal. the damn nut is rusted on. put a breaker bar and jack handle on it, took out the driveshaft, locked the center diff, and drove it:

    That doesnt look very healthy.

my dad always has an issue getting the drain plug out of the rear diff on the truck, so he welded the socket to the drain plug. no more issues. perhaps a similar fix is needed?

it's not a matter of getting ahold of the nut, the socket is holding fine, it's a matter of getting enough torque on it.

I guess I'll drop the diff and take it to Sarah's house and use the impact....

    more progress today:

^ better watch out, your gonna make Ray jealous sporting the multi colored jack stands.

drift style right? different jack stands in the rear than in the front?

you should cover up the wheel wells and photoshop out eh jack stands and it would looks like a space shuttle/ car of the future.

done?! hahaha, no, it'll be awhile. haven't even ordered the poly bushings yet.

and no, didn't get the nut off. I'm going to drop the diff and bring it somewhere with an impact.

well if the impact doesnt take it off, i always have my collection of breaker bars. i think i can get about 7' of leverage on stuff now. so not too much can hold up to that TQ.

i wanna see a pic of a new wheel in the wheel well.

so far most of the bolts have actually come out. the ones that dont seem to less important/vital to installation of the part.

yea, between my breaker bar and my jack handle, I've got about 6ft of torque to put on things. problem is....there's not enough room to get at the diff with a rig like that.

^ your breaker bar is about 6" long. i dont know if it qualifies as a tool anymore or if its classification has turned into lift kit scrap piece.

my little cheater bar is 6" long. I also have a real breaker bar. as in a non-ratcheting, 2 ft craftsman 1/2" drive breaker bar.

spent 3+ hours (got locked in :run: ), and most of my paycheck at the junkyard. but now I have this in my driveway:

hopefully I can get it all taken apart, and then take it down next weekend to sandblasted. along with a few other things.

that rear end still has those goofy stabilizer/control arms that will limit your tire size.

I talked w/ Kris the other day. I saw his new truck, he was tearing it down and rebuilding the upper end (new rings, clean valves) anyway he says he has upgraded is blasting system since last you saw it. something about a 400lb pot, and some freakin massive compressor behind it (w/ an upgraded motor) who knows by the time you get that down here he might have his desiel compressor ready to go (more CFM)

^ no but you should work on re-inventing the goofy rear suspension on a loyale wagon. you are half way there, using those ***** ***** struts was a stroke of genius. not just figure out how to get ride of the stupid bar thing. or better yet make a new bar thing that does the same thing but is bent in a way that it does not restrict your tire options.

exactly. fender modification > major suspension modification

some seafoam deep creep, and this rig:

and I got the spindle nut loose. now to pull the calipers (eek...rusty brake lines), hubs, rotors, and try to get the axle cups off. then I can get to work on the bearings.

all of this nonsense for these 2 little brackets:
