I don't know much about tires or wheels, so I thought I'd run this by the club to see if I should make the purchase:

    Black SSR GT2 rims, 17"*7.5"
SUPER I'M DUMB EDIT: RE01R tires, not RE010. I CANNOT READ.
    GT2 centercaps

2000 miles on the entire set
    4 autocrosses

    $1050

    Thoughts? How is SSR's quality?

I may but the rims from you yet and get some winter tires through the groupbuy.... This seems to be a killer deal though.

Honestly, I think you'd be better off with Carl's set-up for the same/similar money.

The GT2's are solid, but an older design. I saw them on closeout at tirerack in a 17" at around 179 a wheel a while back.

The center caps can be had for ~80.

The re010's are kinda overpriced imo and the re070's on carl's car are a much stiffer sidewall with a more aggressive compound and tread pattern.

Also, what's the offset on these ssr's?

The offset is 50mm, on the edge of happiness for a 7.5" tire, but still in there.

    Also, I can't read. They're RE01Rs and not RE010s. Dur to me.

For a set of forged rims, these are pretty cheap. Yeah, they're not too pretty, but with nearly new tires on forged rims, it's a steal.

Semi-solid forging. You can get any number of wheels of equal strength and lightness for less money new (rpf1, k1-ts, just about any trmotorsports rebadged wheels... mostly ssr and enkei, etc) and not have to worry about finding a replacement for a discontinued wheel. Decent deal, but I'm sure you can do better.

What kind of use are the tires gonna see?

oh, re01r's... that makes a huge difference. Not a bad deal at all. I'd still pick up used re070's and any number of nice strong and light wheels tho... yr lucky you have a ton of wheels that fit yr car.

This. I think I may get the wheels off of Carl for the winter.

$800 is what you want, right Carl?

What do they weigh and what's the condition of the tires?
    If they're under 15lbs
or the tire depth is closer to 8/32s than 6/32s and they weigh ~18lbs, they might be worth it.
    The Re-01Rs are great tires.

My SSR Competitions cost me about $1000 shipped without tires, but they also weigh 12.6 lbs for 17x7.5.

SSR wheels are good quality, but can bend. I've already belt one, but it was road debris that would have killed any alloy wheel.

Oh and if you're going to track on them, don't bother with teh center caps if they're like the comps. They melt.
