I went into the St. Cloud Subaru dealer today to get recall bolt for my wife's drivers seat. I did not really notice any change till I got inside. There was a lot of stuff missing. After talking with the parts guy I found out what happened. Someone bought that Toyota dealer but did not want the Subaru part so someone else bought that. Toyota moved to a new location.

So anyway no more Toyota Scion at St. Cloud Subaru. That used to be a big problem because the owner at the time really pushed Toyota and ignored Subaru. Hoping this will make for much better service for Subaru owners going in there.

Yeha, the new salesman are jokes though. My buddy went there looking at LGT's and someone there told them that all '07 Legacy's have V6's in them.

Didn't even mention H6 or boxer engine, just said V6's. At least, thats what he says, cause he belived it untill I proved to him otherwise. Fawking salesmen...

I did not see any sales people. Just talked to Adam in parts. Seemed like a good guy. He is a Mustang guy (we all have our faults... hehehe) but he has buddies with WRXs and he really likes them so maybe a convert. He said he could not believe the power you could get out of a 4 cyl. He is very impress with Subarus.

Generally, auto Salesmen are liars, idiots, tricksters, and all-around poo-poo heads.

Trust me, I was one for a short period of time. I have since recovered.

^Sneefy...not a good way to start, from what I seen u haven't worked at a reputable dealership, especially working for a short period of time, I'd trust somebody else...I'm proud of my position here as a salesman in White Bear Subaru.

I do not wish of anyone to start into the business because it is hard to get going, alot of times not making any $$$ the first year.

We don't have a good reputation from the get go. But by the time customers leave they have a different idea of what I am all about...unfortunately not all dealerships work the same way...

........hmmmmm...how many sales guys do we have on here!? I understand the stereotype on sales people that work on commissions that you have, but I hope your "Generally" is only speaking of your experiences...as far as I can tell, the sales guys we have on the board are "enthusiasts" and believe in the products they sell, and probably wouldn't lie to you. But +1 on the shallow jerks that don't care about anything but snarling one more sale!;)

Agreed. In my experience shopping for my Subaru, I experienced more "enthusiasts" then "sleazy" sales guys. Of course I bought from an enthusiast! :)

The position of "car salesman" is no different than any other job in that a lot of people do it that don't care about their job or what they are working on. Case in point: My best friend is an engineer at GM. He worked on several cars, including the Z06 and Turbo Solstice (and now the new trucks). He said that most of the engineers at GM don't even like cars. They just went to decided to be engineers because that's where the money was.

I understand how salesmen work, but there is a huge difference in the saleman who knows and enjoys the product verses the salesman who is just selling the product.

I try to buy from the first type.

Well, to be honest. There is a reason salesman have the rep they do. Not saying all are shisty, cause I don't want to sleep with 1 eye open! But many are and many have worked hard to give salemen that rep.

Just sucks for you guys who are honest.

Your right, there is a reason. It's called the 1970s. Back then salesmen could be rogues because there were no real laws in place. These days, car sales is so heavily regulated that a salesperson COULDN'T be shisty even if he wanted to!

    BUT

we are a little OT so lets get it back eh?

I've had good experience with the new owners at St. Cloud Subaru. I stopped in on a Saturday to get an air filter and parts was closed. I complained to the owner and after talking to him about the MNSubaru club and MN rally scene, he was nice enough to go and get me a filter from parts. I gave him the URL for MNSubaru and some other rally sites trying to get him more involved. I also told him about the much appreciated discounts we get from some of the other dealers, hoping to drop him a hint while I was at it. I can't always make it to my usual places and it would be nice to have a closer source for common stuff.

Yeah, I stopped in for a air filter about 2 months ago on a Saturday also.

Shot the **** with a younger salesman who kept trying to get me to trade in for an LGT. Nice kid and so was the other salesman there. Talked a little about the cars, but I could tell they didn't know much about the innards other than they were fast.

They REALLY wanted to get a used WRX on the lot though...
