my run in with the St. Paul police

Well I was leaving the South China food lot and I was going alittle fast and I see this car pull out of no where. I take the turn and I look in my rear view mirror and red, blue lights then the fu**ing spot light in my eyes was even better. He asked me why I was down here because I live in Cottage Grove and I told him "that I was eating at the South China place, and now I was on my way home." He took my license and proof of insurance which wasnt up to date. After what seemd to be 20 min which was probably only 10 min he came back and said "If I pull you over again down here I am going to right you a ticket, I am going to let you off tonight." I was like thank god, because if I had gotten a ticket. 1. I would have lost my license 2. My parents would have killed me 3. My insurance would have went through the roof.

So those of you that say all cops are as$holes you are wrong.

I know some St. Paul Police officers. They are much better than CG officers on speeding etc. They have much better things to do where as suburbian officers have nothing else to do. When I lived in MPLS I got pulled over about 1-2 times per year for 5 years and was given only 1 ticket the entire time.

Not to piss on the party, (and I've said this before) but if you've go so much riding on your NOT getting a ticket...maybe it's worth sticking at or below speed limits, and other things that don't grab a LEO's attention.

Oh, and get your insurance taken care of. If you get into a wreck and aren't currenly covered...you're in for a whole new world of hurt. (or if you just don't have the new card in the car...put it in. Save yourself a lot of trouble)

But congrats on having such good luck.

WTF: the only gripe I have is just because you're from CG shouldn't prompt him to ask you why you're there in St. Paul... What's up with that? I mean people from all over the city visit St. Paul and any other city.

I've been stopped in Edina where the cop ask me the same **** too... I'm in St. Paul what am I doing in Edina. My answer is; my Dr. work and lives in Edina and my wife also happen to work with this well know Dr. here in Edina. I'm here for a Dr. appt.

Do I actually have to have a reason to visit or drive by any other city? If that's the case, the city better start looking at having check point at every city enterance and have people apply for permit just to enter the city.

I see where you are coming from but I think they ask it to see how you respond. If you are visiting your friend in Frogtown and you smell like alcohol they'll probably remember you. If you are coming back from work etc., they got nothing to worry about.

just tell them you were cruising for hookers and crack.. (though could be the same thing... a hookers crack) and you ranout of luck so you are going back to 'HIS' house to sleep with his wife...

now remember if you say it politely with a huge smile the nice officer will let you off.....

I love it when people bitch about tickets and their insurance going up:laugh:

I mean, hey *******, you don't want a ticket don't break the law. It's not that hard. For people going 85-90 in a 60? you DESERVE a ticket/suspension and insurance to go through the roof.

I've gotten pulled over about 13 times and almost all of them have been with the Cottage Grove Police Department and I only got a ticket once. Most of the time it was because of my underglows (had them back when I was in high school) a couple times for tint, one was rolling through a stop sign, and a few times when I was speeding. The weird thing about it is that I got one ticket and the time I got the ticket, I wasn't even speeding. The trooper said I was doing 59 in a 40 when I was actually doing 59 in a 60. This was heading north on 61 coming out of Hastings. The trooper said the speed limit turns to 60 after the second bridge (the marina bridge), but it actually turns 60 right after you cross over the bridge coming out of Hastings. Even though I shouldn't of gotten a ticket, I think its the bad karma that caused me to get it and I think I deserved it. I admit, I was really stupid and dumb back when I first got my license, but I've learned my lesson now.

All in all, like subaru4 stated, not all cops are bad. :)

My advice is, if you dont want a ticket, just dont speed at all, if your gonna speed, be willing to pay the price i guess, I know I am sometimes...

this is an odd one. i got pulled over for going 50 on the fast lane. they said i was blocking traffic. that worst then getting a speeding ticket. i was merging to exit, that all.
