It's a bugeye, different ECU than the 04+. Not a huge concern but you'll want to get something in there to take advantage of those mods :)

There is still an ol/cl delay in the '02-3 ecus; it just isn't as high as in the '04+ cars. I have yet to see a stage 2 car (doesn't matter what year) without management that has NOT showed signs of knock. While this isn't entirely good, I suspect that the majority of the pinging is in the low load partial throttle (ie, not full boost) regions of the map -- not nearly as nasty as something like a super det at full boost @ 6k.

Still though, with the ever increasing popularity of Enginuity + EcuFlash and the number of n00bs jumping on board without a lot of knowledge and/or self-control, I'd venture to guess it would be much more safe on average to not get "tunned" nowadays. lol.

Especially with an aftermarket (catless)up-pipe on his car, the stock map (if thats what he is running)is not going to work with those mods very well at all.

IMO too much for what you get out of it.

The XPT map is pretty much hit or miss.
