I just got my exhaust installed Friday. Gutted up, helix catted down, greddy catback. It seemed to be a little stronger but nothing great. I just uploaded a file from openecu (ziggy_stage_2_rev17) and its like a whole new car. Ive been reading about the whole openecu stuff for awhile but most of it is like a foreign language to me. I did want to change the ecu right away though because the open loop, closed loop thing with the 04's scared me more. Anyway I just pulled a log and was hoping you gurus could look and make sure its safe. Not sure I did the log right (change csv to txt) but here goes. 04 WRX

Ok. I know the openecu stuff is a good tool, but it's not a free ride. I would strongly recommend you do more reading on how to tune and log your car before you flash it. These tools are not meant as a replacement for a Accessport, they are an alternative, provided you want to spend the time and energy learning how to use them. It's not "flash and go."

With that said, you should post your log on either the Enginuity or OpenECU website, not here. Be sure to note the requirements for posting a log. They're more likely to be willing to help you.

To the original poster, and anyone else. Pleeease do your homework before flashing your car with any free map. You could do serious damage to yourself and your car.

Amen to that, Nate. It's only a matter of time before motors start popping.

Not saying that he can't, just that he would be more likely to get help on those websites.

At that point, there were 70 views of this thread, and no replies.

Except for the fact that the 2 people who know how to opensource tune both replied, neither of whom took the time to give their opinion on the log... haha :p

It's because his log is totally borked and I have no idea what values his map calls for.

I had to change the file extension from *.csv to *.txt to get it load here. If I do a file save-as and change it back to *.csv it still opens as a spread sheet. Im not sure what you mean by values. Sorry for being such a noob. I have been on enginuity and openecu alot lately but it wasnt obvious where to post a map. I read about the OL/CL leaning out problem on the 04's and I was scared to run the stock ecu with the new exhaust. I know I am no where near tweaking anything on my own but I figured flashing a map that lots of people have loaded without complaints would be ok. I would like to pay for some help down the road but I blew my budget on the exhaust for now. I dont care about getting every last horsepower out of it for now but I want it to be safe.

Well for starters you need to look over what to log from the above link (you didn't log boost). Your log also doesn't even have a WOT pull in it; just partial throttle stuff.

    :)

Alright I will get another log, I did one with a long pull in 3rd gear but the laptop battery died in the middle. So posting it here the way I did is ok? (adding boost)

Well we really need to see the map to be able to give you any decent advice.

For example, your logs could show a solid 10* of KC, but if the map actually calls for 13* of KC, that's no good.

OK, here's another log try. Having all kinds of trouble getting one. Had to uninstall and reinstall enginuity because it quit logging and trying to find a road in plymouth to go wot isnt easy either!

Here is a link to the map:
