Looking to replace the factory rubbers with 250k on them. I'm going with coated stainless just unsure of brand... Stoptech, Goodridge???? anyone running either, pros, cons...
Unrelated I have a set of stop tech front lines I'd sell for like $30. Just never had a chance to install them (I did open the package)
Save your money and buy new brake fluid, better pads, and new rotors instead. You'll get way more braking performance out of those changes over the stainless brake lines. However it might not hurt to replace your old factory lines with new factory lines due to the age. I suppose aftermarket brake lines could possibly be cheaper than new OEM lines, so if that is the case, make sure the stainless lines are coated. The bare stainless lines are very prone to bursting (rubbing against other components, premature wear...which leads to failure).
The weak spot now is the lines... fresh DOT 4 , EBC pads & rotors... the brakes are good but could be better, when I drive hard I left foot brake & can feel the lines getting hot and flexing. I'm not worried about running a coated stainless line....
I've run both. Both worked just fine for me. As long as you get the coated/sheilded lines you should be good to go.
You should check into a master cylinder brace, too. Just put the GrimmSpeed one on recently and it's awesome. Way better pedal feel.
I have the Centric/Stoptech ones on my XT6 (GD application parts). I'm very happy with them. Agreed that new OE rubber is as good, but for less than $50 a pair (check the part number on RockAuto, then look for them on Amazon, they're usually cheaper), the StopTech ones are a great option.
Yes, that's on my list of to win at the Grimspeed meets, HA! Cheers, Cody Did they both come with mounting tabs for the front?
The ones I put on my WRX (The Goodrich) slid into the slots on the struts but did not come with the metal tabs to lock them in place. I just zip tied them.
For the record, my Goodridge ones did have the mounting tabs on all 4 (if I'm remembering correctly).
