so it finally happened. I was on my way to my brothers house to help him with some stuff, and a crotch rocket non experianced rider rear ended me. Had I not been watching your shorts and tshirt wearing self you would have been in my back seat. I'm fkn tired of bikes not distancing themselves from cars only to get mad at cars for not seeing them Damage report - rear tail light popped, bumper paint, rear coarner panel paint and mini pound out You are a lucky bastard that I do custom paint. Your insurence check for an outrageous shop cost will ease my pain for your stupidity. I was more then nice to the guy, it took a few beers and thrown bottles to calm me down later.
where did it happen skarecrow??? I remember someone posting that they watch something very similar happen. its an eye wittiness if you need it
I think it was on 394 from Soupboy's other thread...? Sorry to hear man, I feel ya on the biker's responsibility stuff. A few weeks ago while traveling on 94E a guy on a sport bike almost switched lanes into the front clip of my car (Camry).. it was close enough to make the wife scream and start bitching about it. Sheesh I guess some people are just dumb drivers.
http://mnsubaru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27438 yeah Steve texted me yesterday and told me about this sean
Please enlighten us as to the brand of bike the guy was riding... As you said "Shorts and T-Shirt", I was thinking Suzuki GSXR....
it was a kawi... glad someone saw this ... because at first it looked like he tried to run, got stuck in traffic 3 cars up and I bolted after him. I'm very much not kidding when I say If I needed to use the shoulder of the road to chase him down... god help me rally America practice what popped my light was his flushmount signal.... THATS how on top of my car this kid was. so story is this. I see this guy on a rocket dropping his bike left and right tailing another car, and thinking to myself, this guy has NO gear... if that bike goes he's squid meat... and I want to be no wear near it.. so I pull ahead, and he swoops lanes behind me. I look in my rear view to see him about 2 feet off my bumper, so I throttle it up a little to push some space.. only to look up and see traffic starting to congest. So I give the brake a few love taps to let him know i'll be stopping and it might be wise to slow down and distance my car. then someone 2 cars up hard breaks... and this kid is still RIGHT ONTOP OF MY BUMPER! so I know he's gonna come damn close. so I pull my car hard left and break to hopefully not let him hit me... or end up in my back seat..... instead of breaking..... he throttles up and tries to pass my car like this was a track or something. I hear a POP and stuff falling, then I see him bolt a few cars up and look back. More interested to see if his look was to see if I was fallowing him, or see if I was ok. so immediatly I rip out out and get close up to him, roll down the window and say "Uhhhh, I'm pretty sure you just clipped my car... now would be a good time to pull over" he says "I think I did, lets look at the damage" pull off the offramp onto the grass, call hwpat they just made copies of the cards and that was that. his flushmount light had a small crack in it, and he took very very minor paint scrapie on his fairing. since my car was just waxed, and buffed.... the pics were hard to take to show actual damage. but here you go. again, the positive is I can do the work myself and charge what I want for shop time..... but am I happy about it? no.... because the tail light lenses wear age the same, and the last thing I was is one super clear lens and the other slight hazy... so what I would be making there.... will probably go to another lens. I have no beef with bikers or other such toys, but bloody fkn hell... people need to start riding smarter and dont play boy racer in heavy state fair traffic.... and if you do.... DONT TOUCH MY FKN CAR!!!! but the picture above, I think, shows I gave dudes life a 2nd chance to drive smarter.
That sucks. It's stupid that some people on bikes and scooters don't think about distance even though their behind you. The other morning on my way to work I watched some dork on a bike weaving in and out of traffic to race to work... Then when I was going home that same day I saw the same guy leap out into traffic on his bike and almost got smeard into the road. The car just missed him by about a foot.
wow thats really dumb..people on bikes should be more carefull, and this guy is lucky he didnt kill himself or get hurt really bad! if i had a bike, i sure wouldnt ride peoples back bumper like that...specially in stop and go traffic like that!!!
Sorry to hear about your car. I hate bikers that ride like that, it gives the rest of us sportbike riders a bad name.
