I have a friend with a 2001 Olds Aurora and last week he was cruising through a snow filled alleyway and he hit a huge chunk of hard snow and ice. Made a huge clunk sound under the car. Now when he goes to start it the car will not start, after wiggling the keys in the ignition it will finally come alive and start. He thinks there is a problem with the electrical system, can this be related to hitting the huge chunk of snow? Any ideas, thanks. I know its non suby but there are a lot of guys here that know tons about cars. Thanks for any help.
long shot but maybe screwed up the tumblers in the ignition... i dunno, odd that it works if he wiggles hte keys it works
As a previous Aurora owner I know their 'security' keys are crap and get pretty flaky after awhile... Does the 'Security' warning come up on the trip computer when it won't start?
has he been underneath the car yet to see if any electrical got ripped? I dont know where the starter is located on those cars, but maybe he tore some junk up. A clunk huh...Hmmm.... Has he called a dealership yet?
I will talk to him at work tomorrow....he is like 55 and wont crawl under. I think he was going to take it to a shop somewhere and have them take a peek
