I have a 2005 wrx and I never had any problems but last week I came out to my car and the battery was dead. I got it jumped and it ran fine for about 5 days, today I came out and tried to start it and it barely turned over and wouldnt start. I jumped it again.

I am running 93 stage 2 with full tbe. Since it has been cold does the stage 2 tune put more load on the battery or do I just need a new battery? I have a battery gauge and it is reading 13.9 - 14.2 when the car is running so I don't think I need a new alternator.

The car has 20,000 miles on it and I am assuming its the stock battery.

    Thanks for any advice

battery is junk, or your alt is slowly dying, i would replace the battery to see if it cures it, otherwise it sounds like its still under warranty, bring it in!

My Subaru battery crapped out in 2 years. I would give that a try first...

Junk battery, mine crapped out after 5 months. IIRC the stocker is only around 300cca anyways.

mine lasted 3 yrs.. was still working but getting slower to crank over... sounds like it isnt holding charge well... alternator is probably ok as it is charging at the right voltage... although if it is charging constantly and getting its nuts worked of it will burn out quicker...

change battery would be a great start.. forget the warranty on it.. not worth getting another stock subaru battery... just upgrade it..

^^ Since when is a free battery not worth it? get the battery replaced, then when it craps out again in 3 yrs and your warranty is up then think about upgrading, not only that but subaru warranty replaces the stock battery with a new subaru battery (made byinterstate) that is totally different.

then that IS a great deal.... was just saying if you want an upgraded one to run stereo stuff and other auxillary add ons then a stock one aint gonna cut it that well regardless if it is an interstate one or not... we used to sell interstate.. they are a good battery but unles syou pay TOP dollar in their range they are another battery that has basically been rebuilt / resticker....

and besides I just figure SUBARU -WARRANTY.... hmmm SOA looks.. you have aftermarket stereo... nope sorry you modded your electrical system now you are SOL!!! ha ha ha

My 02 2.5RS battery died completely in less than 3 years. It was 90% out of fluid when I took it out. AFAIK subaru OEM batteries are junk.

ha ha ha... wasnt trying to win... just playing... but yeah I changed mine out just before the ice races and mine was about half empty of water too.... but it worked well enough for 3 yrs, and was still working when I took mine out, it was just starting to take a few more seconds or so to crank over the car... better to change it now then when I am stuck outside in -30F weather...

mines crapped out after 3yrs. Supposedly the batteries that came in the sti's dont have enough crank power in the cold. Bought me a Bosch with somewhere around 700 cold cranking amps.

**Update** I had the battery load tested and they found that is was not holding a full charge anymore....pretty crappy for a 2 year old one. I got a nice new battery with much more CCA than the origional.

And yes I did connect aftermarket gauges and a 600 watt amp so I doubt I could get a new battery under warranty. One more thing that I did wrong was to wire up my heated O2 wideband directly to the battery, it is now connected to an ignition power. FTW!!!

Car runs and starts great with the new battery!!!
