Quick question since I am car stereo inept.

I have stock deck and the speaker upgrade package. Someone told me that if I was to just get a new deck I would improve my sound a ton. Is this true or do I have to get a lot more speakers? I am not looking for enough bass to shake the paint off but some more bump might be good. What thoughts do you all got for me. Sorry this one is worded so lame.

Getting a new deck would improve the sound a bit - depending on what the deck was capable of - I have manipulated the equalizer on mine to death. You will not have to upgrade the speakers right away - but it's been my experience that the stock ones are pretty muffled - especially with techno/industrial type of stuff.

I would go with pioneer if you're not looking to break your wallet. I have this:

Not the *exact* same model, but it's quite nice. I also have an amp for it and 4 speakers - but those are not installed since I have no subs yet. It is fine with the stock speakers, but I have noticed some sounds just not coming through - where it would on the pioneer ones. I'm going to install them soon because I'm tired of messing with the equalizer on every single cd ;)

My stock speakers suck. Even with an aftermarket deck.

There is tons of information on Nasioc for car audio, etc.

Personally, I would plan on upgrading both the deck and speakers. You don't have to go crazy on the speakers to get ones that are better than stock. I put some cheap Polk speakers in my car and they are a lot better than stock. I spent less than $100 on the four speakers, including shipping.

Both the stock speakers and stock headunit are terrible on the WRX. Personally, I think you'll need to replace both for any semblence of good sound. But hey, I had the 80 watt 4 speaker setup in my car, so maybe your speakers are tolerable.
