I installed the STI Short Shifter on my 07 WRX. The subaru OEM factory short shifter. I feel as though it is rather notchy and takes a bit more effort to put into gear.

Nice short shifts... but seems second is a harder pull down when at higher revs or going up hill and third really notches forward.

I used to have the SS on my 05 STI. Remember it being smoother? Is something to tight?

I also used the MOMO and regular shift knobs. Same result with both.. It could be that I'm just not used to it being a little stiffer as well. The MOMO knobs seems to be and the stock knob is drab... I ordered a Kartboy knob... I hope that was a good bet.

My OEM SS doesn't feel notchy at all. Nice and smooth with no issues throwing it in to any gear at high RPMs. I can't tell you what may be wrong though, sorry.

I want to say my 06 sti with the factory SS is a bit more notchy then the 04 sti i drove with the stock shifter.

I have no idea if this is the case but it has gotten much better since the car has broken in (12 miles to 12,000)

I have the factory short shift in my 06 WRX and the bushings are crap. It had to shift into either second or third quickly and overall its a nice feeling shifter with crappy rubbery bushings

I was just wondering if I overtightened any bolts where it meets the transmission. Would like to know if I can try anyone elses who has one installed.

You can give my '07 STI with the factory SS a spin if you'd like. I'm in Roseville during the day and commute from the southwest suburbs. Hit me up with a PM and we can arrange something.

I appreciate that! It may be a while. I'm in Rochester! I know the STI shifter sits up a bit higher. I'm going to check out the tightness on the front bushing. And I have a Kartboy shift knob on order. The factory knob is garbage.
