a nice vid lol of a 3000gt vrs sti http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8644865929606058628&q=3000gt
skreet racing is illegal, so its mitsu talk on a subaru forum. IDK why people worship these cars so much.
well we all know skreet racing is illegal and mitsu talk is forbidden but just sharing a race. no one worships that car ... its like saying u worship imprezas, just nice cars
did you hear the subie guy say aww. haahahahaha. everyone should know subies is know for turbo lag. very few subies takes off fast unless you brake boost the crap out of your car. vr4 are heavy, but they sure have more torque and power curves in freeway racing then subies.
yeah like kong said. that is the only good thing about the 3kgt but not like it will ever win in a rally! subie ftw
i think you've been in teh WRX for too long....the STi and the FXT barely have any lag. :yumyum: oh btw, i like the vr4...it's no race car or anything...i just like the looks, i'd kill for a vr4 spyder.
naa i hate the spyder only a few mitsu that are good spyders like the new eclipse but i as well like the vr4 for looks mainly
From a dead roll, yes no lag. On the freeway down shifting. The turbo takes forever to spool and kick in. Your victim is long gone before you even reach full boost. Subies also cant hold boost all the way to redline. They peak at like 5k rpm and start droping. A different waste gate or actautor may solve the problem but I'm pretty sure any subie will lose to a b16 turbo hatch on the free way with eqaul power. I'm not sure but probably the way the boxer motor was design. Maybe someone can shed some light on how or why Subie lags so much. Even the STI.
By far if you want a freeway monster. Subies are not the way to go. Its the toyota SUPRA! hahahahahahahha. Or even a built civic in a EF or EG body making 450 hp with a jim fab cross member running on street slicks can probably take out any car out there. Resulting if there isnt any rev or speed limiter. WOW, the ultimate sleeper. I used to own one. hahahahhaha. But it got broken into and herc had to tow it home with his v6 accord. Then it got sold. Oh how I miss the honda cars but hate the haters. Do you also see that air horn. Its to get you slow ass out of my way.
There are a bunch of factors against the Subaru as a from-roll highway monster. Header to Turbo length. Most turbo'd 4 bangers have the turbo almost immediately off the header...inches from the exhaust outlets. Whereas the Subaru design forces you to have a couple feet of header length before the turbo. This will result in a cooling effect on the exhaust which means less exhaust energy to exert upon the turbo. 4WD is also a hinderance. Any 2WD car will pwn you with similar mods and power levels on the highway. Especially FWD cars, they practicly have their wheels bolted to the crankshaft of the engine. RWD has only a driveshaft to turn. An AWD/4WD drivetrain has a bunch of moving parts to spin...it sucks power that could be sent to the wheels. This will hurt you up top also...but it is great for getting off the line. RPMs. Not necessarly a killer, but it is good to have a nice wide powerband on the freeway for frum rolling. A honda can have a powerband from 5k-9k if done right...Wheras a freeway Subaru wants to stay around 4500 to stay in boost for frum-rolling...that is only 2500 useable RPMs for most USDM scoobs vs a 4k rpm powerband for a Honda or a Supra or whatever.
I really haven't put the manifold into perspective but thats sound good. Also that distribution of the powerband to all 4 wheels must really have a lag on power. None the less. A turbo honda will most likely eat a subie for breakfast, lunch and dinner with the same power.
^^ thats making a lot of assumptions. for instance.. look at that 8 second GC in austroasia territory... that same statement wouldn't apply
The 8 second GC isn't using standard bolt ons, wieghs tons less than a 2002+ Subaru anything. I'm willing to bet the exhaust header is shortened and the turbo is in an other-than stock location. He is spraying nitrous for sure. There are a million reasons why a Rigoli Impreza isn't anything like 99.9% of the imprezas on the road. Those are purpose built cars, not your average street car.
I'm no genius here. But From owning two of the cars. I felt the difference in power. Both cars are built for one reason but are not meant to do the same. I'm not saying subies arent fast. Just saying there slow on freeways. Just something about them. Going down the entrance ramp of a freeway I could only get the subie to get up 80mph before merging. and for the civic. 115 mph easily.
I from rolled my buddy's car (on a track ). He has as b20 non vtec head that is turboed and we were dead even on a 40 roll. He ran 12.8 on slicks, on a higher boost level albeit in this car. I'm only a stage 3 now and was at a 2.5 at the time. I wouldn't put us at a huge disadvantage, there is one, but not as big as some would suspect.
