Vic and I met up with a Mercedes to really see what the supercharged C class (non AMG) could do against my A4.

    A4 > C230 Kompressor

STi > C230 Kompressor (Vic was just wasting his gas, there was not comparison)

    STi > Porsche

    A4 > Porsche

Vic was too scared to race me, so we don't have an A4 - STi comparison. :-p ;-) :-D

I don't know what model the Porsche was, it was an older touring model. Didn't know the guy, he just saw us and joined in. heheh.

Fun times, fun times.. thanks Vic!

Jordie, that Porche is a late 60 to mid 70 911 model, vintage I tell ya.

It was fun though, I knew ahead of time what the out come is whether from a roll or stop. I notice how he drove his car (MB), even a stock Honda Civic... or Fuji in his Wagon will kill'em. He just doesn't have the experience yet. Either way... a 189hp weighing 4k+ pound isn't going to be doing much... even my old 93 Mazda Protege would have gave him the run for his money.

It would have been fun if Dan showed up in his chipped S4. Well, we all had fun. Hope you made it home without a ticket?

Now about your A4... yeah, you would have slaughter me all over the road ;) Hahaha

All out fun, Tell Jonathan it's all good, I had fun, just to bad he had to leave early...

My old roommate who just bought the STI used to be a big Audi guy. He owned three of them and had one of them chipped. I'm not sure what kind of mods you have in yours, but my '02 WRX with no power mods smoked his A4 with no problem. The A4 is much heavier than the WRX and comes with less HP. I would imagine the STI would be even worse. The S4 is another story, as that car is in a class of it's own. Were these drag runs or on the twisties? That 911 should have had a much better showing also. This might be a case of driver abilties.

I'd be interested in comparing our rides. I have an '01 A4 1.8T manual w/chip and nothing else. Your WRX manual or auto?

The S4's not that fast stock... my brothers 02WRX is able to run with it from the low to mid speed... once up in the 100, that's where you'll see the S4 slowly pull away. Reminder, do not street race, it's not safe ;)

The vintage 911: as you stated, it's the driver. When I left the line, he looks like he was standing still. Again, he's not going to do much when that car comes stock with what... 170hp+ or something like that? Even Jordan's able to pull away from him. It's all straight road... Now on the twisties, with just us dorks driving... we'll still slaughter the driver in the MB and Porsche.

To be honest, I don't feel proud of what happen... there's nothing to brag about. I know there's a lot of faster cars and faster drivers out there.

You win some and Dim Sum you loose :)

Ya, I wasn't trying to spoil any fun at all. I was just comparing my own experiences.

My WRX only has a reflash from Cobb and a K&N so far. The suspension is a different story. I have a couple thousand into it. By the numbers, I should have about 260 HP and I guess about 225 at the wheels. I don't really know how much it has in the real world, but I would like to have it baselined to get an idea of where I'm going from here. Some days it feels really fast, other days not so much. I would say that I'm a pretty conservative driver and my buddy even moreso.

I've driven his STI and obviously the power difference is noticable. I think I will be going with a VF34 or an 18g considering that is what most people are doing and they seem to be tried and tested. There is already a map for the VF34, but someone would have to tune for the 18g and that someone would probably have to be Cobb in Utah. With the new turbo and the Cobb turbo back, I will be looking at more like 300+ HP.
My friend is selling his chip for the Audi. I think it is also for an '01.

Here are the actual stats for the cars-

    YEAR CAR Curb Weight HP

    2002 WRX 3085 227
    2004 STI 3263? 300
    2001 A4 3241? 170
    1979 911SC 2558! 180
    2000 S4 3594 250
    2003 EVO 3263 271

I'm not certain this is totally accurate, but there you go. The power to weight ratio of that Porshe is really what it has going for it. I didn't list torque figures either. That makes a huge difference. I guess I got the weights wrong too, it looks like the A4/WRX/STI are pretty even and the S4 is the hog.

What all do you have done to the suspension? That's probably the modding route I'm going.

    So far, I have-
    Eibach Pro-kit Springs
    Eibach camber correction bolts
    Hotchkis swaybars and mounts
STI strut tops front & rear
    Kartboy endlinks
    Freedom Designs front strut brace
    STI rear strut brace

I also have 17" Rota Tarmacs w/ Khumo Ecsta 712s and I guess you could consider them handling mods.

For the drivetrain I have STI group N mounts for the engine and tranny and Kartboy short shifter, knob and bushings.

It was tough not to buy some coilovers, but I didn't want to throw all my money at one thing. I think my car is pretty solid in the turns and keeps a neutral attitude with hardly any body roll. I'm not sure that I would want any more oversteer. I figure with more HP, I could probably coax it to drift when taking a corner. I could always put the stock swaybar back on the front and I'm sure the ass end would swing out.

regarding your comment about having to have COBB flash your ECU if you got a not mapped turbo is not all true. The AccessTUNER will be out soon, and with that, you can have a shop tune your car just like any of the other tunable options out there. Does anyone know if anyone in the area will be getting a tuner so that anyone with an accessport, or cobb reflash will be able to tune more agressively, or for certain parts? I haven't stepped into any modding yet, and I am really not sure now of what type of engine management I would like to get.

I'm really hoping someone will pick up the AccessTuner. It sounds like it will be extremely expensive though and I imagine the only people willing to invest in it will be shops. I guess we can all pitch in. :D Anyhow, the good news about it is that they are working on reflashes and maps for several other cars, not just Subes. I think they have an EVO, an RX-8, the 350z, the Infinity G35 and of course the STI. You can check out the link here-->http://www.accessecu.com/products/pro-tuner.html

as much as I'd like to, money is kinda tight right now, especially that we have moved into our new house and my better half has the summer off, even if I could, I'd have to pick which car to take and spend the extra money on. The DC2 needs some work, and so does the GDA in order to keep it safe out on the track.

    ;):D Get OB1 2 go w/ya, tell him its not a request!

Wait isn't Sloath Jordan going to these events; now theres something to write about :eek:)

Speaking of kickin' some ass. I took out a Golf Gti this past Tuesday on freeway 36 east of 35E. He passed me up going at least 20 mph by me. Being whooped, my GF told me to floor it. *shrimpy vioce* "o...k..." My rpms kept pulling me and the gti got pulled in quickly. It was modified of course with at least an exhaust. When we got to the light, he came from behind and slowly switched lanes to turn into Frost ave. I was going to give him a thumbs up, but he never looked over. My GF was }:). Too bad he didn't show any respect. I would guess he runs the 1/4 in the mid to high 14's. :?:

Or a stage 3 A4 1.8T, or a chipped S4.. both of those should be close to a stock STi. The RS6 is big and heavy, and automatic only. I think an STi taking one would humble the RS6, but don't be humbled when a car that cost almost 3 times as much as an STi is a little quicker. ;-)
