Just curious.... is the STI fuel pump a diffrent model than the WRX? how about the 2.5L WRXs? and mainly for the parts guys... do the 2.5s share the same P/N as the 2.0s? the competitive little guy in me is seeking the "Really really close to legal" mods... just get the little extra fuel so the damn injectors aren't bouncing off the 100% mark. a walboro is totally out, as you can hear those ****ers from a mile a away.
i have had mine walbro for 2 years now and i barely even notice it. It only makes noise for like 3 sec. just do it:biggrin:
Per the nasioc fuel pump FAQ: 2002-2005 WRX fuel pump 130 lph 2006+ WRX fuel pump 145 lph 2004+ STi fuel pump 145 lph and iirc both wrx and sti use a 30 psi fpr. No clue about the PN but I imagine the 145lph version may be the same. Can you do injectors? 02-05 WRX uses high impedance top feed injectors - 420 cc 04-06 STI uses high impedance side feed injectors - 535 cc 06+ wrx and 07+ STI likely use the same injectors (not sure on this one) they use high impedance top feed injectors - ~560 cc
If your looking at it as a money saver it won't get you far. I would just get one if I were you. If you don't do mods that you should, it just creates issues. Sometimes BAD!
A pump isn't going to lower your IDCs. Bigger injectors will though. Have you checked your fuel pressure to see if it's dipping?
I'm guessing this is for autocross... update/backdating rules. Also, you can buy almost 3 walbro pumps for the cost of an oem pump new
Either way, when you are maxing out the injectors, it doesn't matter what pump you have, you need bigger/more holes in the bottom of the injectors. The only thing you can do to lower idc's is increase the fuel pressure or install larger injectors. A pump will only help you if you can't get the fuel to the injectors fast enough. I know from back in the day, guys were running 700cc injectors on the stock wrx pump without any problems. Most times, the pump is just cheap insurance, not really needed (stg2/small turbo cars). Just a quick question..... on an auto-x course, why are you so heavily concerned with your injectors being maxed out when i bet you hardy get out of 2nd gear? i can see it being a bigger issue on drag strip, or road course. Just my .02
Are you kidding? I can't even hear my Walbro! I can hear it in my brothers car because its known to be very annoying in the Evos, but there is no sound in the WRX/STi unless you but your ear by the gas tank and really listen. I've tried it. I believe the difference in the 02wrx and sti's are going from 130lph to 145lph???
Oh, I didn't know if it was for autocross either. Considering he said he was just curious... Than why not just buy a walbro?
knowing your set up, i think you should be focusing on other things if you are maxing out the injectors right now
