So I did a bunch of research on NASIOC and decided to give the crush mod a try before my tune next weekend with Jorge. If you want to know more about this mode, search on NASIOC for it. I will try to put some links up to some of the threads I read later when I have some time. The mod supposedly is supposed to safely upgrade your stock BPV from ~19psi max to ???? more ???? The directions I read on NASIOC said to crush it between 1/8" and 1/4". While I was doing the mod I started to get nervous at around 1/8", so I stopped there. Not that I will push this pressure, but from my reading I think it should be safe to around ~22psi. Here are the pictures that I took.... (Close-up before crush)
let us know if you actually notice a positive change, i read about this a handful of times but never saw it in practice
Mitsubishi owners have been crushing the stock BOV for 15 years. They always hold more boost. But only by about 4-5 lbs.
After reviewing the picture below, I don't think I inturpreted the mod correctly. I was trying to only "crush" the center section of the circle on top the valve. From the picture below it looks like the internal spring sits around the outside edge of the area I crushed. I might not have changed anything with what I did. I think I will take it back off and "crush" it some more because I don't think I effected much of anything just crushing the center. no one would do this on hear because every one has a new bov that makes a cool sound. stock ones don't!
Explain to me how to get in there... The valve in the picture has been cut with a dremel to expose the internals.
