I am going to be replacing the stock clutch in my Stage 2 Catless 04 WRX. What i would like to know is what is a good replacement on a budget. I do not do a lot of aggressive driving, I would like to stay with an organic street clutch. Read as needs to be able to daily drive easily for me and my wife(who doesn't drive a stick except to try to learn in my car once in a while) I was looking at the Exedy OEM replacement. But wondered what would the Exedy Stage 1 clutch provide in terms of performance. Because I would think about upgrading to the stage 1 if the gains were there. Also does anyone know a place to get a good deal through.
Exedy OEM replacement would be a good choice From what I was told, stage 1 feels almost like stock. Pedal is just a bit stiffer. I'm not sure about stage 1, but just letting you know the info I got.
What do you all think about ACT? I was looking at an ACT heavy duty/street set-up along with an ACT lite weight flywheel.
I am replacing the block in my car, so I am doing the Clutch at the same time. Brian (Driftin240) is going to be doing the work. I didn't look at ACT becuase they were more than i wanted to spend. What about South Bend Clutches, anyone heard anything, because LSE has a sale going on right now for these clutches.
^got your PM. yeah, I like the clutch. I have the OFE street series rated at about 450. It's smooth and pedal feel is just slightly firmer than stock. However, it IS a bit (just barely) noiser than a stock unit during engagement. FYI: Make sure your throw-out bearing is good and greased, otherwise you'll get a sqweek when you let off the clutch pedal. :ugh:
