Posting this here for a fellow autocrosser who had there car stolen last night. Minnesota plate 499 JXM. Most of you know this car. It is a MINT 1997 Integra Type-R. It used to only come out of the garage for autox events. Nikki's had it parked in uptown near 26th and Nicollet (daily driving it) and it was stolen from her driveway last night. I'm not sure if she heard the alarm going off, or if the alarm fob was beeping where she was - I don't have much information. Please, PLEASE keep an eye out for it. It's a really special car. Championship white, silver aftermarket rims (the brand name escapes me right now), and it still has the big Acura vinyl decals on the sides and front from when we brought it to Nationals. Call me (and also the cops) if you see it - 612 - two-oh-five - 0289 If this is an inappropriate post please fell free to delete. This is a very well kept car, and has a lot of meaning to the owners.
i'll keep an eye out, but more than likely it is already stripped. Rare car, you don't see many around anymore.
any pictures? unfortunately it is probably completely stripped and distributed already. interesting video
Dang, sorry to hear that. Sheen and I were just talking about autox and that car last night at the meet! I live right next to uptown, so I will keep an eye out!
It's probably gone. I hope against the trend that it can be recovered but it's awfully easy to strip a car down with a few people. Best of luck!
Hope its found in 1 piece! Matt has some pics of it on fb. Might repost them here later. Yeah Jordan, I remember back when salah owned it. That car has had a very good life and I hope for the best.
Sorry to hear, but this type of thing happens all the time down there, hence why i'd never bring any of my hondas down there. Hope your friend finds it, but chances are it's already parted out. I'll keep an eye on the honda forums for anything suspicious.
You may try sending a message to Jalopnik. They have been pretty good about helping people find stolen cars.
still no pictures? i found this on craigslist that sort of meets your description. http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/wsh/cto/3779979614.html
Sorry about the pictures, not too many available. The car is white. I think they are trying all they can to get this back. On a silver lining side, they are now considering a BRZ for a replacement.
http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/bar/3795641146.html I know the post says B16, but maybe the poster isnt that bright? Might be a lead.
I understand that. But what are the chances of a REAL jdm b16 motor with 40k miles sitting in a garage for a year? And at $1700? I've been out of Honda's for a while, but IIRC you cant touch a real B16B for under 3k. Correct me if I'm wrong. In Chicago, they would do anything to throw victims of theft off the trail. Then when a real buyer shows up "oh look, it IS a b18, this is your lucky day".
I don't know seems really sketchy. I don't think I would even look without packing heat, and I would have a buddy down the block holding my cash. I'll pass the info on, thanks all for keeping an eye out.
I saw a White Type R with White Eniki wheels and had front fendors with vents.... Saw it at 1:50pm today at the SA on University and Broadway in NE... if anyone has pics from autox's of the car that might help. Did not get a plate number though, sorry.
this message posted about a month ago: "STOLEN - Please keep an eye out for this car - it currently has silver rims on it, and only the large ACURA decals near the back of the car are still on there." wheels are probably these (this pic was posted about a month ago) might be these wheels (pic posted last year)
OOoohhh so that's who "Salah" is. He beat me in his stock Mercedes C300 AWD at the last autox by a few tenths of a second . I was too focused on the beating the guy in first and he crept up and took 2nd place. I didn't recognize the name from past events...now I know! Anyway, I've still got an eye out for this car, hopefully it turns up.
Mostlikely not the one I saw then... Unless they changed out the fendors already. I figure the decals could easily be removed (or thats what a smart theif would do) and the wheels changed. But other than the fendors and the car being completely debadged other than the Type R on the rear (noticed in the 2nd photo it still had the Acura badge) it's a slim chance that it might have been it.
This is off topic from the thread, but I work with Salah. He used to own an Evo that he autox'd with a lot. He was telling a few us about the auto-x's at Valleyfair and that we should come out with him.
