    have you guys read?

"Well, bad news. Just got off the phone with my brother. He's at the impound looking at the cars. It looks like the TR and STI have been found in some parking lot by Cedar Ave in Minneapolis. STI is missing engine/tranny, most if not all body parts, lights, seats, gauge cluster, etc....basically a shell. The TR is missing the whole front bumper support....looks like someone sawed it off, body parts missing, turbo, intercooler missing. They even took the kid car seats. Well, sounds like both are total losses."

    Flatbed... or vin number.

Sounds like either the TR was an afterthought and they just stole it bc it was there or they ran out of time when stripping it. Makes no sense not to take the motor (and control arms and brakes) off the TR.

My condolences to the owner(s). Hope their insurance company works everything out.

lolz, honestly... I thought the same thing for a split second, with the baby on the way (anyday now) it would be nice to not have the car payment and now that I know more about these subarus, I would have built an entirely different car. But then I thought about how kickass my car is (not as awesome as some of your guys cars, but the fastest car I've ever owned) and thought about having her all chopped up and sold to other guys and caniblized into abunch of other wrx's engine bays.

yeah that sucks. These people are not just regular punkass kids. They were pretty damn fast at what they did. so that's another reason not to post pics with your license plate.

I am not sure if he's gonna use those parts for himself or sell them. Definitely someone who know about scoobies. but the owner wasn't in any forum. So they must have gotten their infos using some other source.

IT F SUCKS! I felt really bad for him, it was better if the sti was never found.

in Sydney the Lebanese would go with about 8 guys.. they would lift ANY car out of the way and carry the car away down the street... yep one guy whos car they stole they moved 4 other cars to get to his which was a magazine quality car.. then they removed it from the shed... the tail lights alone were rare JDM Savannah tail-lamps (RX3) worth over $3K for the pair.. so these asshats will do what they can to get what they want cause they have NO conscience...

seriously if they want it they will follow you home.. whats the difference.. DONT DRIVE so no-one sees you have one..??

see above post ^^^ another friend of mine got followed by a car load of Lebanese (not profiling its a fact in the Rotary circles abut 12-15yrs ago) for over an hour.. he was even taking country back-roads... and I mean roads that the other car had NO reason to go down... guess what.. he had savannah tail lights on his RX3 coupe..

and to turn this political.. just wait.. soon everyone who thinks they should have what you have even though you work hard for it will want it.. and guess what.. you will have to give it to them.. its called the trickle down wealth.. or trickle up poverty... but mostly its retarded ass hats who do this crap...

it's a lot less time consuming and more cost effective to just look for a car you wanna steal on a forum. Rather than driving around randomly until you find what you wanna steal. I don't buy that at all.

I'd like to think that the people smart enough to troll forums looking for cars to steal will be able to steal your car easily anyway, and so there's not much to do to stop them if your car is at all vulnerable (like on-street parking at night or something).

Maybe that's not so much the case anymore with practically every moron alive knowing how to use the interwebz.

Jeezus. I've had my scoob for over 5 years and nothing's happened. This guy seems like he just moved into town and both his were stolen. Wtf....

This is sick **** if they're targetting scoobs now. I usually leave my car on for 5-10 mins to warm up in the morning (oil temp), but that's probably not a good idea anymore.

At least my car's older looking, might be less appealing to thieves.

It would be helpful to make specific notes of what was removed and put a post on NASIOC about it to anyone purchasing these parts. Something like a used STI engine and 6sp aren't small parts to sell.

then if you dont buy it.. then you probably wouldnt think that it is easier for them to drive past any of the 5 Subaru dealers locally and take as many as they want either.... dont need to click on a forum for that... unless they want to go to the dealers website to see if there is a particular color in stock to 'test drive'

the licence plate blackout issue is being discussed over on the Forester forum...

With a VIN number you can get a key code, and with a key code you can get a key. The new immobilizers help prevent theft, but a knowledgeable thief could easily circumvent this. I won't get into how because discussing how to best go about stealing a car is far from a good idea in a public forum.

You can also get your address from the VIN number, so they can find where to steal your car.

The information you can get from a VIN doesn't speed up the process any. It's just as easy to steal a car without the VIN number.

The license plate thing is kind of bogus. It's a bit more difficult to trace a plate number unless you are friends with someone at the MVA or police department... which is unlikely if you are trying to steal a car...

I black it out just to cover my butt.

The part i'm laughing most about with this whole argument is the person who is saying "black out your plate when you posts pictures of your car" has his plate in full view in his avatar.
