I went to go observe some street racing as did a few other comrads I know. We were sitting there watching only to see that cops came in from all angles and helicopters swarmed the sky. It was like a scene from Fast and the Furious. Cops yelling and screaming and telling us to take the keys out of the ignition and put them on our roof. They organize everyone in different lines. Much confusing spread across peoples faces as they marked each car with different symbols and letters. As we sit and wait our punishment, FOX news is surrounding cars asking questions and seeing what peoples impressions are of this "underground sport". The cops had been video taping and had undercover cops at the races for the past 3 weekends. FOX news had been hiding out in a nearby warehouse video taping the races and peoples actions. The cops also had been videotaping, making sure to get the cars and liscense plates that were racing during these past 3 weekends on tape. Each person/car was ran through their system to see if they had been here and raced here. People wearing wonderfully enormous X's on their windshield were being flatbed towed and drivers arrested. The scene was nothing short of amazing. It made me feel so important that they had all of Ramsey County PD involved and even undercover cops. The tension was extremely thick and tempers flared in the beginning, but near the end it almost turned into a block party. People meeting people, sharing music and laughs. Wasn't a party for all, but a lesson learned in time. - Will Rogers (2004) Tim from FOX was the reporter on scene. Said it would be aired in November some time.
BTW, I dont condone street racing nor did I participate. I was just there for amusement and I got more than enough. Here is a quick picture I snapped as the cop was telling me to put it away (poor quality), also I accidently turned off my camera as I was taping the cops swarming and the helicopters too ... yet FOX could stuff camera's in peoples faces... Wierd.
Ahhh see that reminds me of California, they do this stuff every weekend in the bay area, but every one gets a ticket even passengers and spectators. The best is when people try to get away because of stolen cars or parts then all hell breaks lose.
I had followed Matt to the famous Vandalia Party, so I could get him to help get some Datalogs. I had no intension of staying around. I've had my share of this fun. So after blowing my headers off, Matt offered that I could drop him off a few blocks away, so I did since he know I didn't feel comfortable being there in the first place. I guess ya are gonna be famous! C Glad I got outta there.
Vandalia crosses with University Ave west of the Firestone lot. I have never heard of that place, so I guess I wouldn't have been included if I had been able to make it to town. I guess that place is going to turn out like Red Rock, too. }

Just the ones racing, I got out of there with no ticket or even a slap on the wrist, just had to wait for an hour [xx(]
