I just got back. Haven't gotten through the pics yet, but I had this one still on the camera. This was about 20 yards past a beach going uphill. What is it? I know what my guess is.
Here is the beach. (oh and by the way, this one is unmodified except resizing... this one was taken with a Nikon P1 camera in auto mode.)
^Tank got shot and fell down the hill into the water as the tracks broke off from the explosion. ? Or it was old and sat there so long it just all broke apart and the main part decided to go swimming
Good question... I looked around. It must have gone swimming. No more parts to be found. Just this. No signs or anything. It was just laying there.
hmm coulda been from pearl Harbor days. that just got left behind when they cleaned things up? I wouldnt know why they would have tanks out there? Unless they staged them there and practiced things during ww2? Couldnt tell ya what kinda tank they came off of?
Black sand FTW! Derek, when/where did you go? I know someone that was just there a week ago. Lots of amazing pics!
I just got back yesterday. We went to the big island (properly named Hawaii). We were there for about 6 days.
looks like you had nice weather! Looks like a nice place to vacation as well. Lots of nice sights I assume!
We did so much. I'm trying to remember it all. Six days went by so fast. Incredible weather. Here are some of the things we did. -Atv tour over Waipio Valley rim -doorless helicopter tour over active crater -custom scuba/snorkle/kiyak tour -green,black,white,tan,gray beaches -south point -volcano park -painted church -forest of clouds -botanical gardens -a bunch of waterfalls -city of refuge -hiking all over -luau
They were also on the big island. 8 days, just got back last Sunday at 5:30, or 6:00pm. You may have been on the same flight!
Oh BTW. WRX/STI's (that I saw) out weighed EVOs 2:1. Not very many of either. Although the place was crawling with modded Hondas.
Ouahu has tons of WRXs and STIs, lots of primer grey civic hatches, and monster trucks on the Big Island
I'm guessing tank tracks considering the 400+ vertical foot hike down to the beach and no roads in or out (especially where this was lying).
HAHA I thought I was in Wisconsin with that many jacked up trucks around!!! The only difference is that they put nice rims on in Hawaii.
i could be wrong, but after playing medic for 10+ years in an armor battalion i picked up a bit of knowledge on tanks. With that said, I'm going with a m3 tank or Amphibious Assault Vehicle from WW2/korean war era. probably practicing landing maneuvers. IIRC the m3 series tanks had big roller wheels instead of the other series that would use a split roller wheel. Honestly though I'm very surprised the track was left there.
Hahaha, that third pic up on the trail is the same pic that I saw the other night. Their group was on horseback on that same trail. The coolest was the waterfall erosion on the other side of the valley coming down the hill/mountain. It looked really cool from that angle.
