This guy has a 04 Saturn ION Redline..he said he beated a 05 GTP 2-3 car lengths ahead. BS flag or no?
i have no idea how fast those two cars are so i wouldn't know..all i know is that the GTP is supercharged but it's bigger than the other. So i wouldn't know....maybe since GTP are automatics.
i believe the ion is also supercharged as well. so maybe it is true. plus those new gtp is really heavy.
SCC says the Ion weighs 2960 which brings 14.8lbs to every 1hp.. autos.yahoo.com says the 05 GTP weighs 3583 which brings 14.929lbs to every 1hp.. The Ion won't pull that far unless the GTP doesn't know how to drive or wasn't racing.. Now that I've actually looked up the power/weight I'm not too sure it was BS.
my only experience with a GTP was a quick drag (only up to about 70) verses me in my dad's '85 300ZX, and it wasn't really any contest, I was a car-length ahead before we were through the intersection. I guess it's possible, the GTP is a big car. if they are both stock, I'd say it's close, with a few mods on the ION, verses stock GTP, yea, I bet it could happen
