I'm sure this is quite obvious to everyone else on the forum, but I was wondering if someone can tell me what OEM and JDM stand for?

I gather from reading other threads that they are parts built to factory specs, but I'd rather ask than not know something. This way can get the lingo down sooner and start asking more important questions.

oem -- original equipment from the manufacturer
jdm -- Japanese domestic market, ie, stuff ricers think is superior since it's from Japan.

no, the only thing that an sti engine shares with a 2.5 rs engine is the 2.5 litre displacement, the sti block is a semi closed deck type and the N/A version (2.5rs, or any N/A 2.5 subaru) has an open deck.

And the compression ratio would be 10:1 on the NA motor. The NA engine will detonate on stock STI boost pressure.
