Ok, i got some questions on the Subaru 4 pots. first off am i correct in thinking that the 06 wrx 4pots are the exact same as teh JDM STi (GC8) 4 Pots? if they are will they directly bolt on to the GC chassis? or will many new parts be required such as knuckles, ect...? What size rotors do teh 4 pots require? what size rim do you need to clear the 4 pots? same questions for the rear 2 pots. Thanks
I have the JDM 4 pots on my GC. The 6 spoke RS wheels just barely clear them, but they work fine. The rears will fit easily. Theyre the sme size and rotor size as on the 06 WRX, but you can get the JDM ones in black or red. They bolt to the stock locations.
Thanks, so to do a swap you would need the brackets, calipers, 06 WRX rotors, and some pads, and some wheels too. Thanks a ton!
i'm pretty sure it's just stock WRX Rotors. there are no brakets as their fixed calpers. the caliper literally bolts right to the hub. If you want to go cheaper, you don't even need 06 Calipers. Nissan 300ZX TT calipers are IDENTICAL. and you can get them for $350 complete with pads remanufactued from autozone/checker. WRX Wheels will fit with a 5MM spacer, or like said above, the 2.5rs wheels will fit because their 16x7 instead of 16x6.5
this is good to know. so the 4 pots have no brackets? interesting. i will need to look for some pics and verify that. what about the 2 pot rears? same wrx rotors?
hmm i highly doubt my 15"s will clear. although i have heard that these 15"s that i have are high clearance. either am gonna have tot do a test fit or some measureing soon.
AFAIK, the only 15's that'll clear the 4 pots are usually rally specific wheels, I know there are some Compomotives that clear just fine.
is there any other documentation showing that the 300ZX rotors are same as STi 4's? I know the newer ones are wider and will NOT work with subes.
Speedline Corsas were the cheapest 15" wheel that would fit over those brakes. If you're looking for some of those just for winter tires you may be able to find some bruised ones sold from one of the sponsored rally teams since they always seem to like having shiny new wheels at every event.
As for the rears, the h6 and the 2 pot use different rotors. the h6 is a solid disc, while the 2 pot is a vented disc. IIRC the 2 pot rear is off of the older leggy turbo, and the h6 rears are off of the newer h6 outbacks. Russ
well, he's been talking about aftermarket brakes/suspension....I haven't asked him yet, but I bet he'd be all for jacking up the rear end, pullinga wheel off, and seeing how things look. I don't really want to do an all out test fit, but we could take off the wheels, take some measurements, and see if it's even close.
300ZX calipers (any year) WILL NOT BOLT UP. No way, no how. The mounting bolts are 1 1/2" off and there is a reverse flare where the brake line meets the caliper. Not worth the trouble. So I just bought this giddyap from subaru of gwinnett.
