Happened across this from the BBC and didn't see it posted here yet: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/7812485.stm
I just heard this over dinner. I havent seen the article but I heard that Subaru was the only car maker that was up in the US for the year of '08. I am not sure if that statement was accurate or not, but it is still interesting. IMO it kind of shows that Subaru has a very dedicated group of customers.
I thought this was interesting but I guess this can't be too far off topic but anyone ever read One Up on Wall Street where he mentioned about Subaru. Excerpt These are companies whose products you've admired and enjoyed, and who would have suspected that if you'd bought the Subaru stock along with the Subaru car, you'd be a millionaire today? This serendipitous calculation is based on several assumptions: first, that you bought the stock at the low price of $2 a share in 1977; second, that you sold at the high price (adjusted for an 8-to-1 split) of $312 in 1986. That's a 156-bagger and the fiscal equivalent of 39 home runs, so if you'd invested $6,410 in the stock (certainly in the price range of a car), you'd come out with $1 million exactly. Not into stocks anymore but my guess is marketshare isn't gonna help Fuji Heavy Ind. at the moment.
Wards Auto World made prediction in an '07 article that Subaru and some other small car companies incl. Mazda, etc. would go out of business due to the economy. Glad to hear Subaru is gaining some international market share as well.
Yes, it is cool that Subaru posted a sales increase in 2008. But how did that .3% gain compare to the previous five years? What is 2009 going to look like? Also keep in mind, Subaru holds about one-ninth the market share of Honda. Subaru has a much more select group of customers.
Bisexuality has been shown to be a bunch of BS. Straight pot-oh-gold followers are the roots to the N/A Subaru. Car dweebs like ourselves buy the hotrod versions. Then ex-honda bandwagon chodes buy the cheap used turbo subarus. Except the SS. No-one wants to deal with teh EM situation.
