Have had a few questions asked about the car so I figured, why not start a thread where people can ask and find info. I am NOT claiming to be an expert on the car. Just looking to share what I know with inquiring minds.

Mods if this is in the wrong spot feel free to move it as needed.

@Neil Wise What do you think of the BRZ vs Miata in terms of a "Track Car"?

Both are very viable for track use. Great handling and enough power to kill yourself. Great to learn with as is bone stock. Once your cabable and proficient the mods are limitless. So are bigger better cars. The most important thing is they are amazingly fun to drive.

They are good cars though. Handle amazingly. But the only thing that rattles more than the interior is a bee hive. Everything in mine buzzes and rattles.

Does it have the classic seat belt squeek when you buckle yourself in? If not, it's not 100% Subaru.

Thought you BRZ guys might be interested in this OBD2 app called Carista that allows customization of certain car functions for supported vehicles (BRZ is the only Subaru they list as a supported vehicle). I have downloaded the basic app, but have yet to try it out with my ELM327 adapter, so I cannot personally vouch for its quality or effectiveness. I don't remember where I saw the recommendation for it, but they gave it a promising review.

Yep, every time I buckle up, I'd like to burn the car to the ground because of that god forsaken squeek.

Give it time and it'll burn itself down.

what's with the cheap exterior plastics? Did they reuse interior parts for that? Also, when I sniffed your seat, it smelled like stale lucky charms. Why is that, @Neil Wise ?

Cuz I wanted a buff Asian bent over sniffing my seat. The chocolate starfish was much temptation.

Acceptable answer. But it doesn't explain why the passenger seat smelled like sawdust and fear, @Kneel Weiss.

Behold the scent of wife. She fears for life every time she gets in. The Subaru in my car could rear it's ugly burning head at any point.

Overall my goal is to create a place where people can ask about the platform and general information. For example, if some one was looking at buying one or just a conversation starter. Between the two of us, we know a decent chunk about the car and with our builds going two different directions we can get a larger spectrum of data regarding tunes, power, handling etc.

Yes there is the 86 forum and such, but no real dedicated spot here to look for or find information from local owners.

If you take off that panel and take a good blade, just trim the piece where the seam meets. It will go away and never come back! @jamusix told me about that from his old WRX.

Where the heck do you find front AND rear brake rotors locally? I can only seem to find the fronts, unless I order online.

Order centric blanks, amazon is probably the best/cheapest place to find them.

The fronts are the same as most wrxs.

    I have the premiums.

My rotors are "stoptechs" vs. centrics, but, they are the same part #. I can get stoptech thru my dads shop, but not centric.
