It's official. The Subieyota has a name. Subaru's new rear-wheel drive sports car, currently under joint development with Toyota Motor Corporation, will be named "SUBARU BRZ". "BRZ" stands for "Boxer engine", "Rear-wheel drive" and "Zenith."

No, we don't mean a cheap brand of TVs. Actually, Subaru says that the name is an expression of confidence in the "Horizontally-Opposed Subaru Boxer engine."

While the start of production is planned for spring 2012, FHI will exhibit the technology concept of the "SUBARU BRZ", named "SUBARU BRZ PROLOGUE - BOXER Sports Car Architecture II," at next month's Frankfurt Motor Show.

And with Toyota jointly working on the chassis, it'll be 3000+ lbs of pure sluggishness.

I give it 6 months at the most before the HellaFlush Retard Brigade gets ahold of it.

Good find. That looks like the same car they have had at a few car shows, just new colors.

Give me a good reason why its stupid for subaru to sell? Because its not AWD? People who are going to buy it arent going to give a **** about it being RWD only, thats why they are buying it, this isnt going to be a huge market, so I doubt many will be made per year. Good job Subaru for thinking outside the box.

Well, the lack of 6MT/AWD option kept me out of a G35...

You know the G37s have both of those right? I think what he's getting at is this car is for a niche market. I love RWD cars and if we didn't have snow I'd probably be driving one right now.
