wheel studs are easy... the hard part is hammering them in and out. that's it. well, that's how it was with my civic. took about 15-20 minutes per wheel without knowledge of what tools wre needed, etc.

be Darn careful with the "tone wheel" and the sensors when you take the old studs out, they are EXPENSIVE trust me they were bad on my 96 and I just broke 1 sensor.

soo........ why are you changing to extended wheel studs anyway?

A wheel lock ruin the thread on the bolts. One bolt stud is stripped out, I can't tighting in proper torque, tha't why. I was looking around for aftermarket studs like greddy bolts, they assume there is a welding part. Not sure though

fronts are easier than the rears, there is more clearance. There is a good write-up on scoobymods. If you aren't afraid to bang the crap out of them to get them out it isn't too bad, if you do it right and "press" them out it is kind of a pain since they are in there so tight. I bent like three C-clamps doing one wheel.

What studs are you looking at? I don't think there are any that are a direct fit; I guess if you are welding them there would be more options out there.

I actually bought some for Nissan that should have fit, but the knurl is like 14.2 mm instead of 14.3, so it didn't quite grip in the hole and started to spin. 50mm length. Anyway I have 10 of them if you are interested. I ended up just putting new OEM ones in mine, but if you are talking about welding them anyway then the Nissan ones might work for you.

i had to replace 5 of my 10 front wheel studs.

anyway it is fairly easy. you can pound them out w/ a hammer easy enough. becareful fro teh ABS sensor its the slotted ring behind the hub. when i put the new ones in a just put a nut on it w/ a deep impact socket and pulled em in.

I was checking write-up scoobymods as well on nasioc and the other boards, few suggest the oem and the other for extended. What's the stud oem size a-n-ways?

Why not go with the stock length and just put OEM in? Unless you are using >3mm spacers, you don't even need to consider it.

OEM I think are 42mm. If you want something stronger maybe try the STi ones; they are a different part number than the WRX, maybe a higher quality steel...? (just a guess.)
