February 24-26 we will have another ice race.

If you plan on comeing you should really try to get there friday, even if it is late. the cost will be $25 per person per night.If anyone needs a private cabin, we will reserve cabin #5. It will be $35 per person per night. you can arrive any time on friday and leave whenever you want on Sunday, that would = 2 nights
We will probably do the same with food, everyone bring their own. Dont forget the BOOZE!! we ran out early last time

hey, it all depends. i would love to go back up there and race on that course some more, but school starts for me in a couple days. so with school going i probably will not be able o make it. i will have to check into it thought.

 

I'm interested. I would definitely go unless something comes up at school during that time.

 

if that weekend is not a good weekend for people we could change it, It doesnt matter to me, I have all weekends free.

i'd ride w/ someone and drive somene else's car around for a bit, but my car has to get fixed in time for spring so i wont have the use of it.

I ain't gonna jack into the matrix up there either. that thing sucks on wet roads even. So if anyone wants a codriver, let me know.

 

i'll try to make it this time. i have no guarentee since i'll never know what'll come up for school or work.

 

Though i am in Rochester. I'd be willing to drive up there after seeing those pictures.

Sarah's family has their annual sleigh ride that weekend....so I'd be out for THAT weekend, but any other, we'd bring the escort (unless she upgrades :twisted: )

btw, rich, we'll most likely be coming to get my car by this weekend at the latest.

 

TRUE THAT!!! I would like to come and check it out, but I would be parking my car and watching(unless someone is nice enough to let me drive theirs). I can't afford to mess up my car, plus I only have summer tires(I would like to buy some winter tires and rims). How much is it to stay overnight?

To everyone worried about banging up their cars; I hit a couple snowbanks with mine, but I'll have to say (please don't take offense in this guys) that those who broke parts were being REALLY agressive... If you only drive as fast as you can afford to fix stuff that breaks, you should be fine... It was a 7 hour drive for me, and if there is another event, you bet I'll be driving up again for it.

 

^^^quite true. I was going rather quick when I ripped up my front bumper. I had a number of other times when I wasn't being so aggressive that I hit snow banks and didn't do any damage at all.

 

yea id like to come up again id Deride plans too. and like was said above, if you drive pretty carefully, u can leave with little to no damage. deride only put a little dent in his rocker, and when i drove i never even bumped into anything.

Yes...but I still only have summer performance tires, they work good enough for getting around in the winter for as much as I don't drive it(not as good as winter tires of course), but on the ice would be a different story

 

I drove the beejesus out of the Saabaru and left with no damage. Just got stuck a few times. Just take it cool around the course a few times and realize where the "bad" parts are.

There were a couple of people with summer/all season tires running, i guarantee NO ONE can go to this event and not drive their car. Look at esperunit he wrecked his tranny and still drove the course a bunch more times!

the track was a ton of fun. i got stuck in the snow probably about 5-6 times. and also took out a cone hardcore. my car has no body damage to it (beside teh chipped headlight fromt eh drive back) i know one of the times i got stuck i was flying through the finish and kept sliding sideways right into the snow bank. i hit at the back wheel/quarter panel, and then flung around and hit the bank striaght on becing my self. i hit the bank hard and there was no damage at all.

i have video at night from in my car and in justins car. perhaps they could be combined and be part of the mnsubaru video we have soo long planned

 

How about dings and scratches?

 

none that i know off on my car. but hey we still can get a deal on paintless dent repair.

 

snow usually doesnt scratch cars, there was little to no ice on the track so that wasnt a concern. the worst that would happen is to some of the plastic pieces(bumpers, fog covers, sideskirts) besides you only live once and this is was scoobys are made for!

 

I'll be cutting the snowbanks down with the plow so no one will have to worry about banging into them this time.

I wouldnt worry about any paint that isnt custom that you've put a lot of money into. I lost some on my front end, but i crashedd it right into a bank like an idiot on my last run, because i was so happy that it was at least driving. I just wanted to get it loose real bad once since i'm repainting the front end in a few weeks anyways i didnt feel bad about it.

I smacked a few snowbanks with my back bumper and it looks goo as new. depends on how aggressiely you want to drive.

you can tell when you got some body damage becuase when you pull into the pits everyone is staring at you with that "daaaaamn" look on their face.

Besides the tranny (which would have blown anyways, since it started to kill itself on the ride up there) the only damage i suffered was a snow filled car trying crank up the drifting for the camera and one knocked off exhaust hanger.

Also keep in mind the cars that took the worst mechanical hits were the two oldest ones there (me and chux) and both have been driven a little hard over their lifetimes i'm sure.

i wouldnt worry about it too much. Just go and have fun, and if your car gets a little bit hurt, that's just character. These cars were meant to drive fast, race and have fun in.

 

iam thinking of going but not sure yet if i want to depends on school, i will know more in a couple of weeks

I did hit a plateau though of around 1:08-1:10. Couldn't seem to get better than that.

No clue if I could do it at all, but I'd only have a chance on the 24/25th. No way on the other weekend. Opening weekend of our next mainstage run.

 

I ran allseasons and when I got my dent I was driving like an idiot into an icy snowbank.

 

the 18th is the traillizards snodeo.....

 

I would really want to go, and break more things..but I will be in Missouri the 24th running the 100aw rally...hopefully NOT breaking anything.
