Yea, no kidding there are not too many Companies that Specialize in the Brand. Let alone Company's who actually can make repairs that stick. Our Company has fixed alot of mistakes and have had to redo complete engines by other Shops and even Subaru Dealership's that claim they specialize in Subaru Brand. It has gotten so bad to the point where we actually have to decline work that comes in because the time needed to Diagnose and Repair the vehicle outweighs the profitability and our Technicians including Myself simply do not have the time to be running around for countless hours because A.) Someone decided to do the work themselves or B.) Because the shop that took the job either doesn't know the brand inside and out or they are simply to lazy to make the repair the right way.

There are also numerous shops including some of the "Specialty" shops in Mn (Including Dealerships) that Simply don't have the confidence to sell the Job with every single part the job requires or to Sell the Job using O.E.M Parts and to replace every single part on the Vehicle that has even 1 iota of showing signs of being or soon to be even marginally acceptable to put back into service. Our shop has the Policy that we either repair absolutely every job that comes in with O.E.M or Highly upgraded parts as well as If were not doing a Job 100% complete then our shop will not even take the job. (E.g) We had a customer we complained about a shift fork and wanted it replaced. We informed the customer that we would only preform a complete overhaul of the transmission and if thats not what he wanted to do we would not take the job.

Simple as that. Use the Best Parts you can find (With the exception of being cost effective) O.E.M or Equivalent. (No lower end aftermarket stuff at all) and Replace absolutely everything within the Job you are doing and have the confidence to do that. That is what separates the Men from the Children, that is what is going to give the customer the best quality, that is what will make sure you will never see a car back in the shop for warranty issues and that is what is going to profit the shop the most. I'm sure some of you guys are thinking the customer won't pay the price. But here's the thing..... They do!!! And they are happy too! Shops just need the confidence to do that and have the skill to back it up! ,

This just seems silly. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding this statement, but this is exactly the type of shop I would avoid, personally. Upsale, upsale, upsale. So if a customer were to bring their car in for an oil change and new spark plugs, for instance, you would just recommend a complete engine overhaul?

Edit: I initially thought you were speaking of the clutch release fork, not a shift fork within the trans. If that's the case, I suppose I can understand the trans rebuild suggestion.

They said '100% complete', so I'd imagine the rest of the engine being related to the spark plugs would need to get replaced.
