Lady turned left in front of me as I was driving down Washington tonight, smashed the front end of the STi pretty good. The whole front end is about 3 inches toward the passenger side of where it SHOULD be. All the fluids leaked out, including those that are supposed to be in the battery. The hood had a NICE bend in it, looks like it is trying to touch the ground with the left front corner. There is a perfect imprint of her passenger front wheel on my bumper, you can even tell how many spokes her wheels have... All this two days prior to MOWOG 1 & 2, and a week in front of the TNT. This sucks.
Oh god, I feel for you. Some stupid cheesehead made an illegal u-turn thru oncoming traffic and i pegged him doing 40 mph with my brand new car of less than 3000 miles. DO NOT let progressive take it to "fix" it.
nooooooooooooooooooooooooo! That sucks! I saw your car at Novice school, such a nice looking car! Good luck on getting it fixed, man!
holy crap that sucks big whunz. good luck with the fix man. if my car wasn't already full up with drivers, i'd probably let you in. Put the word up on the MAC board... someone may have a ride available.
We're sitting in the ER waiting room right now, waiting to get checked out. I think I have put about 3000 miles on the STi since I bought it. I have the season pass for this year, so if I don't show up, registration fees are wasted. I'm trying to figure out what to do with that, but since this is our only car, I can't even get to the track if I find a co-drive. I had it taken to a joint that a friend recommended called Hagen's in Uptown, but they won't know they have it until tomorrow morning when they show up for work. Should make for an interesting discussion...
Man, I have to change my avatar, it doesn't look like that anymore... A friend was there with a camera, so I might have some shots tomorrow to put up.
OMG that is horrible! Glad you are okay though. I also saw this car at the novice school, it was mercy very pretty.
That sucks. If you need a co-drive, send me a PM. It won't drive the same, but it does pretty damn well. ESP needs a 3rd person and I'm used to being beat in my own car. I can't recommend autworks in rockford enough, best piaint in the cities.
Hey, look on the bright side, now I don't have to worry about the horrible Subaru paint on the front end, and I can get the clear bra installed as soon as I get it back (or as part of the work) to make certain that the car stays nice and pristine on the front end.
Did this happen at Washington and 12th? That intersection sucks, no light, no visiblity. Seen a lot of accidents there.
Wow man, that's really, really harsh. I wish you the best of luck in getting the fixes done quickly and smoothly.
That's bad man. I feel your pain, hopefully it will look like new in a little bit. You could easily sell those autox spots if you want. At least you are ok.
I know one of the Hagen's personally, not one that works there, though. Always been meaning to go in and check em out. Seems they do a fair amount of classic restorations. How's your experience with em so far?
Cars are fixable, or replaceable. You however, are not! How did things go at the ER last night, did you end up being okay?
Dibs on the brakes.....:ugh: I seriously need to find a flying vulture gif..... And bummer, Hope everything works out for ya. You don't see any new red STI's running around. Russ
Feel for ya man. All it takes is one careless bastard to ruin a nice car, then you start replaying the incident in your head numerous times thinkin "if only I had taken a different route, if only I could turn back the clock..." You'd think a screamin red STi would be pretty easy to see comin your way.
To be fair if this was 12th and Washington there is basically zero visibility with traffic. Which is why i won't turn left there for any reason.
Ouch, that really blows, especially when it happens right before the ValleyFair weekend. Glad to see you escaped without serious injury. Looks like you scored an STI co-drive already, but PM me if you want/need a co-drive in my BSP (Stage 1 tune + RaceComp springs + OEM tires--seriously underprepped!!!) 08 STI on Sunday.
Speaking of...midnight yesterday I was cruising south on highway 3 about 1/2 mile after 55, I saw a 2008 dark grey STI facing the guard rail. I almost wanted to cry when I saw the car. I did pull over and help the guy move his car off highway 3. The best of luck to you.
Initial estimate is $10K, and they are planning on fixing it. Funny thing is that my adjuster was driving at the novice school with my wife a couple weeks back. It was a funny conversation.
Talked to the guys at Hagen's auto body today, they are going to be done with it tomorrow unless there is some unforseen problem. They have everything back and just have to put it all together. They even sent the engine out to Subaru to get looked over, never had a body shop do that before! So, anyone interested in buying an '08 Scoob? I found this amazing Porsche while I was sans car for a few days and the wife says I have to sell the STi before she'll got for it.
