Hi Mods There has been a rather interesting phenomena occuring on this site lately involving posts, and threads that are in offtopic. It seems as though they stay - if they're annoying and obviously people are having fun in them - through most of the day. Then I go to sleep and come back and think "Oh hey, lets check that thread we were all getting silly in" and the thread is gone. And then, I'll go into other threads and find out that my posts have been deleted. I really don't care if the mods are running around deleting content they (or others) find "offensive" but I'd like a PM or something - anything - letting me know that it was deleted. I'm not asking for infractions, just a bit of courtesy. When I'm looking for something that I have said, and then can't find it, it's extremely confusing. So my suggestion is that if you're going to delete something someone has posted, at least let them know about it. Thank you.
I do try to PM people when I have to move threads or posts. But, it is very time consuming if you have to PM everyone in a large thread. So, sometimes not everyone in the thread will get a pm. You can always pm a mod and ask and we'll try to take some time and explain. Keeping a balance between letting people have fun and keeping the site clean/acceptable for the most of the members gets difficult at times. There is a wide range of members with very different view points. I know I try to do the best I can with the time I have on the site. I can say that none of us mods are trying to pick a fight or anything like that. Overall the site is going well lately I think. Feedback is welcome, from everyone, especially new members or members who don't post everyday, just because we hardly hear from them.
No, I wasn't accusing anyone else of that. I just wanted to let people know that the mods aren't doing that. But yeah, we are more than willing to explain our rationale behind why we remove a thread or a post, the biggest constraint for most of the moderators is time. There's only so many private messages I can send during a lunch break and still eat my food.
I'm not sure how much it happens here.....but I'm a mod on another site of similar size (although the average age is about 14.....). and we delete a crapload of stuff. it's hard enough keeping up with the spammers, and other junk. not to mention keeping the legit users in check. sending a pm about everything would make it substantially more difficult. not including the fact that a good portion of those pm's would be returned with an argument.
As with most sites the mods/admins unfortunately have to delete posts and threads. Most of the time the regular members are not sent any communication as to why. yesterday was a great example. I received a number of complaints from regular posting members and a couple members that don't post too often. All were compaints against the threads I suspect you are questioning. I responded to the complaints, but I don't have an extra hour to send individual members explaining why a thread was deleted. Just know this....if you post in a thread that is possibly offensive or not in alignment with site rules the thread may be moved or deleted. Sorry, I know that's not the answer some people may want to here, but it is what it is. :hsugh:
fail........ I tend to dis-agree.... there used to be more humour around here and not so many peole getting their undies out of place... I for one dont want another nasticock but hell.. people have got to have some fun... soon teh front page will be locked...
I agree Nate, there used to be more humor on here, but it used to be cleaner humor...and the site used to be smaller as well. Now to find humor we must start threads about fat chicks or pee....whereas before we used to make fun of people for something car related....like putting 19 inch wheels on a wrx and cutting stock springs...or runningoff with half the gas station attached, etc etc.
Really? I didn't think it was that bad lately, maybe the past couple days had a few threads moved, but over the past few month it's been pretty quiet I thought. Thanks for your input though. Anyway, us mods are kinda stuck in the middle, we're simply not going to be able to keep everyone happy all the time. So, please don't take it personal if we remove something, etc.
Scuba, that is all fine if you're recieving complaints and etc about certain things - that is how it's supposed to work. I am not posting about this because it's some recent thing that just happened to crop up overnight - no, I have noticed for months - things disappearing, posts being deleted - etc. Even things that were not in any way shape or form offensive, I've had posts go missing and I've thought "what was wrong with what I said?" I didn't want to start a fight, I was just putting out there that maybe some people would like to know wtf they are doing - when it seems unjustified - so they can stop doing it.
All of the OCB jokes get squashed immediately by a certain person (with a goofy avatar) thus making us resort to potty humor.
I cannot disagree with you on that. Typically we only have time to address this situation with the person that started the thread. However, if you had an individual post deleted you should've noticed. Sorry if that wasn't the case.
I think the whole point i was making was that I DID notice, and then was getting irritated with never getting an explanation for it. ..
Yep, kinda. Anyway, I hope people realize it's nothing personal when we delete or move something. And we don't mind getting feedback from the members at all. and i know it's just "pruning" threads and whatever sometimes, but in some instances, it's just been flat out gone. whatever, I won't make a big deal out of it, at least the post count doesn't go down
im sorry but whoever is offended by me talking about PEEING has deeper problems then whats posted on the internet. PERIOD. also this has nothing to do with the mods, they were just making the decision to move the thread that the crybabies cried about

sorry, i didn't explain myself that well. I meant this... for the most part you probably won't get any notification if a thread was deleted/moved and you just happened to post in it. You will receive communication from a mod/admin if we need to delete your particular post.
I was just being difficult... trying to get this thread deleted too... ha ha I think you mods do a great job... someitmes a little delete happy, but it is for the overall good of the club... when I said it has gotten stupid, I meant kinda juvenile... I just find my self coming on.. looking at the titles of threads.. they look dumb I click read.. done.. sign off...
