Hey everyone! About this time last year is when I began making arrangements for the La Crosse cruise that was held in June. I've been thinking about it more and more lately and wanted to figure out what kind of interest is out there for a "second annual" La Crosse cruise. Please post any likes and dislikes that you had from last year, as well as any new ideas that we could possibly implement this year. Keep in mind that we are a 'pay to play' community, and we will need to budget accordingly! So, let the ideas fly! Edit-*This is meant to be a Subaru related trip. Although there were a couple of non-subies last year, we are wanting to keep the other vehicles in the group to an absolute minimum!* Thanks! And in case you forgot what it was like last year...some pics.
i am in, fo rizz, maybe not with a subaru, so you dont have to take my pic, however i will be there no matter what.
The numbers last year were: 63 Subarus 108 Members/friends/family Pretty good for the first year I think. Maybe bigger and better this year!? And Luke...re-read post #1.
I will be down...that's an extra suby If my GF drove her own, it'd be two, but most likely she won't want to drive :-/
well i'll be there for sure just gotta let me know the finalized dates asap so i can make sure i dont work!
Huh, I'm gauging interest to see if everyone is game for La Crosse and the activities we had, or were there suggestions for something new? I can't just throw a date out all willy-nilly without contacting the city of La Crosse about shelter rental dates and what-not. Also, the caterer has to be booked in advance also. So...please give the thread a couple of days to develope, then I will start contacting all of the necessary people. kthanxbye. Btw, last years was held on June 23rd. A Saturday. I'll probably be looking for a date around this time frame again if that helps anyone!
are there any tracks in that area? or any car related events/shows taking place in the summer? cuz that might be something to plan the date around as well. just a thought.
This idea would take me a few to research, but maybe. I think that insurance would be the biggest issue there, but I can check.
itd just be nice to have more of an event or something at Lacrosse itself rather than eating and leaving. as far as the group goes cause i know a bunch of people stayed the night last time. doesnt necessarily have to be an event we be in, just maybe something car related? such as HIN, but i doubt that it comes to lacrosse. just my two cents
Last year, not too many people wanted to stick around. They had races the next day last year I believe. But then, it goes from a semi-cheap day trip, to a more expensive weekend. And many people had their families with them. Someone said "softball tourney" last year, and I think that is a great idea. We would have to see about availability of the diamond next to the shelter. Last year they already had tourneys going on there Saturday though. I'm all for the new ideas though people! Throw them out there, and they will be considered!!
^softball tourney would be great. Maybe a silent auction along with the raffle. Raise the money for the club or for next year's event.
Now you're talking! That would be a blast and would keep things needed like bats and gloves to a minimum!
we should think more about sponsors for this year. like the harley lightning ride is sponsored by summit brewery...
Oh, i'm in for sure! free red bull would be cool, but ladies would be cooler FTW. I think a raffle would be a great idea, also a silent auction sound good too. I think that more people turn out to events when there is a chance of winning stuff. (i.e. my co. xmas party)
you know the photographer... I mean beth and I are in!! let us know when so she can get the weekend off if need be. But we will make the trip. Beings it is a longer haul for us this year we might make it a weekend thing and do some sight seeing down there this time. Kickball FTW. or, wait for it... wait for it... Dodgeball
I have good Red Bull hook-ups. Let me know when it is and what the details are and I for sure can get the Red Bull peeps to show. Maybe I can get this to show up..... http://www.skateparkoftampa.com/spot/images/DSC_4867.JPG
\/\/This was what went down last year for those of you that did not attend\/\/ 2 1/2 hour cruise to Copeland Park Pavillion in La Crosse. Lunch provided by Rooster Andy's Catering Services. Brats/Hamburgers/potato salad/baked beans. 2 Red Bull girls handing out free energy drinks for an hour or so. Raffle giveaway:Shirts, Hats, Phenolic spacers. Rich even threw in a one night stay at the Ice Races last year! We had sheets made up with SN, mods, year, etc. for the windsheilds. Maps w/video locations marked on them. Group photo. Subaru of La Crosse had some newer model Imprezas there on display.(No 08's) But we tried! Channel 19 news showed up to film and interview. //That's about the jist of it. Would like to add the kickball or something fun to the itenerary...we'll have to see!
