We all know that winter season is already behind us. Now there is the time for some new summer tyres. I was catfighting with brett and brian @ BP Morries subaru what are the best performance tyres and the benefits on that. So, I assume that the azenis 215 were the best choice, but in the other hand (research makes us smarter) THEY ARE NOT!!! Any suggestions or recommendation?

    My choices so far 215/45/16
    - Pirelli Pzero
    - Hankook Ventus RS2 Z212
    - Yokohama Advan
    - Toyo Proxes ( IIRC)

I wouldn't call it a catfight, just getting whacked with a cold dose of reality. From what we talked about earlier costwise, the Z212s are probably going to be your best bet. All of the rest of those are going to be big $$, the Toyos might not be so bad though. Go to www.edgeracing.com and see what their pricing is like.

Azenis are the best when it comes to reducing "interference" radio noise made by the tires when driving, but is between average and good when it comes to performance.. correct me if i'm wrong

Define "best performance tires".... IMHO, the Azenis is the best dry weather, all out performance, tire of all 5 listed. The Yok and the Kook are the closest competition (very close), in the dry, but the others are in another category.... Anyone that tells you what the "best" tire is without knowing the characteristics you are looking for is not doing anyone any good.

Are you looking for dry, wet, mileage, noise, etc.?

^^Like what Chin said, it really depends on what you're looking for in a summer tire, Tbone. On my old GC WRX, the Azenis tires I had were pretty loud on the freeway and I found it not to my liking; as a result, I purchased Kumho ASX for the quietness and comfort. It's what you want in a tire.

I couldn't say. They were mounted on my old Impreza RS when I traded the car in. They're supposed to last a long time, from what I have researched but there's no real world test made since it has only been in the market for a couple of years.

On that ist, the best daily driver/fun tire is definitely the 'kooks. Azeinis will cost more and wear faster (I wear them out at a 1 set per summer rate almost, but lots of autocrossing on there too) and the 'kooks are competitive autox tires as well.

I'd also add kumho ectsta MX's to the list of considerations. Close to azenis grip, better wear, bit flimisier sidewall, but still better than a multi season tire and marginally better than the hankooks.

I have Kumho ASX's on my matrix. Theyre not bad tires at all, but not in the same league as the azenis/mx/hankooks for summer grip.
