I just ordered some used JDM Spec B Rev A Bilstein suspension with 4k miles on them. I've got to admit, I'm a little excited. Its like the anticipation of opening a christmas present when I was a child. They're coming from the mother land so it may be a couple of weeks before I get them. It'll be paired with whiteline front and rear adjustable sways and kartboy endlinks. My shoes are 17x7.5 Bronze Volk CE28.
I bought them from http://hkc-speed.com I paid $750 shipped only because it was posted on the legacy forum. They usually sell for $850 shipped. Bilsteins, Koni Yellows and Tokico's are probably the best strut/shocks combo we can get. Pair them with the right springs and you'll have a great setup. The Rev A are little to stiff for my liking but you can't beat $750 shipped for a set of JDM ones. Would of liked a set of Rev B or C.
Running the stock JDM Spec B springs. Going from Outback suspension to Legacy suspension lowers the car a lot. The only real spring I would like to have are pinks.
Awesome set up man. Can't wait to see the Pictures. Seems everyone is dropping there cars recently (mine not 2 months ago).
I love the stance of the car but if it lowered wrong, it handles poorly, it defeats the whole purpose of lowering a car. Its always been lowered but I keep switching up suspension. I'm never satisfied. But this time I'm sure this is the right setup. 1st setup was with BC coilovers -worst coilovers I've ever rode on. Doesn't matter what setting your set on or what preload you have, its all over the place. -2nd setup was koni yellow with rallitek springs -I love this setup. Nice and smooth. Great feedback and it has a perfect stance. 3rd setup will be JDM Bilsteins Rev A. -will find out how it rides next weekend when I install them.
As much as I love the 4x4 status during winter. I'm really tired of switching it out every year. I have to do twice the alignment. I'm thinking of just leaving it low year round now. I'd also like to have 18" or 19" CE28. heheheheehe.
If you live in a place where all the roads were nicely paved, then there are no problems with them. In the cities, there are cracks, bumps, and uneven roads. The car is all over the place. Doesn't really matter if you set it soft or stiff, it never feels like its safe enough to drive. If you have high tolerance for that type of ride, you may like it. I drove through Eagan on 35E going north and you'd think the roads were nicely paved. But its uneven. My car felt like it was low rider. The front end bounced up and down.
Do the OBXTs have the subframe spacers like the older ones? That could really screw with the suspension geometry once lowered that much...
Yeap, they still do. settings are a little off but ride quality isn't sacrificed much. The only thing I noticed was the front wheels moved back a little more. It's not a lot to change it over to the legacy spacers but I don't race or autox the car to really feel the effect.
Got them installed a couple of days ago. Took me 2hrs. The rear has 3/8 spacers to keep the wagon at an level stance. The ride quality is day and night. Its a lot stiffer but really smooth.
