I'm looking for some nice summer tires for some 17inch wheels I plan on buying. What's the best bang for the buck? I don't want to spend a crapload of money and I want the tires to last awhile. I'm running pirelli pzero nero's on my 16's right now, and they grip quite well. Suggestions? Oh and I plan on getting these sexy wheels right here http://www.i-club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=112293 17x8's

i have the same tires on my car and they seemd to have bad tread life even though theyre ranked at 400.they did do amazing though while they lasted.. i think im gonna get kumho ECSTA MX's or the PZero Nero M&S's juse because theyre ranked much better all around

Search nasioc, you can get some stock STi tires that somebody took off right away for like 400 bucks.

I haven't driven on the new Azenis', but the old RT-215s were really not that bad in the rain. The only scary moments were in considerable standing water (>2" deep). Are they as good as the F1s or MX or KDW? No, but I never was bothered by the performance. Actually I AutoX'd them in the rain several times, but was still competitive with the other tires (note that this was 2+ yrs ago).

Me and Larry were driving azenis 215 (me) and 615 (him) last weekend at evo school in the pouring rain, it did not make any difference in our times, nor did it feel unsettled tossing it around. Theyre still considered the best rain tire in the Street Touring classes.

They're fine in the rain, at every point they hydroplane its probably where any other tire would have hydroplaned too.

The only thing I don't like about Azenis' (i'm on my second set) is that if you autocross on them, they do require some maintenance. They need sprayings between runs and high pressures to avoid scrubbing the sides off completely.

I ran 42lbs for 10 runs last weekend and scrubbed off an alarming section of the corners and was getting some chatter. 4 psi cleared that right up.

But for the street, their only disadvantage is the treadwear isnt spectacular, but just doing street drving you can probably keep them for 3 summers, depending on how much you drive. Throw in 10 autocrosses a summer, and you get about 2 summers out of them. I believe Christian was getting 2 summers out of his as well.

(and BTW the 2 RS's running azenis' in the rain were the two fastest cars of the day. Both were run for Fastest times by instructors and larry got ftd easy in his RS [i was close, but not close enough]. i was getting miata dry pavement times from my car in the wet, so they can't be bad rain tires.)

I have the g-force kdw 16s on my suby. They are ultra grip in dry, in wet roads, they are extreme grip. The bad part, they are very loud....

I think Tim ran a 28.9xx when I was riding along in the STi... did anyone grab the final time printout?

fwiw I am running Yoko A046's off an Evo. The corners got chewed up pretty good last weekend and I was running like 48 in the fronts. Wish I could get more than 1 degree of camber.
